Tired of the BS...

This team has talent on it, they look unprepared and sloppy on all levels. People are blaming our situation on lack of talent and past coaches... those people are FOS. Terrible play calling, poor coaching decisions and poor preparation are to blame.
Great Post. Through 4 games I have seen absoutely nothing that indicates Pruitt can lead manage or coach this team. Pruitt is a very likeable guy. He speaks the language of most TN fans. I really like him. I hope and pray he can turn things around for this team and our state. Fans will be fans but it is assinine to say these are BJ's players. These are JP's players and they have been his since he was introduced as our ball coach. 2. If you know anything about coaching you know that a ball coach can take any group of kids and make them competitive regardless bottom line. 3. It is an easy excuse to say "we just dont have the talent" that is a cop out excuse. We have SEC caliber players who should be competitive with most of the SEC teams excepting Bama and the Dogs. We have one of the most knowledgable fans bases in the country. We know that Helton does not pass tbe "eye test" and is way out of his league or competence level. This is an easy call - Nit even close.

Rewatch the run #25 had. The effort was poor, the technique was bad, the physicality was soft. It was like nobody wanted to hit the guy and all the above is what I’m sick of. Whether your a no star or 5 Star you can at least make the effort and at worst fake it.
I’d be happy with some acting! So is that coaching or what? Who’s responsible for piss poor effort

Why would you rather? Because he sounds southern in his Press Conferences? Because he coached with NS?

There is no legitimate coaching reason to think CJP was a better choice than Leach.

Leach was turned away because he wouldnt allow ADPF or others to control him and his actions.

I don’t think Leach is a championship winning coach especially not here in the SEC. I believe and have believed since Pruitt was at Georgia that he was the next great coaching hire.... Nobody remembers that Leach went 3-9 his first year at Washington State and also 3-9 his 3rd year with a much weaker schedule than the one play.... People need to shut up..... support the Vols and allow Pruitt time to build us up... We have a few talented players but little depth and really need to replace most of these starters through getting the right players in here.

Where was WSU on the 24/7 ranked talent list? Lot 3 stars in Pullma. Wa. that somehow aee motivated and coached to focus and compete.

Oh well. At least our coach sounds like us and wouldnt embarass us at a dinner party. Very important traits in a University's HBC

What makes your opinion more valid than anyone else's? Do you have some inside information other posters don't?
I would say the fact that we got destroyed at home to a team we were only 4 point dogs to make his opinion seem a lot more realistic than the ones who want to pretend otherwise.

Let me try this again:

What makes your opinion more valid than anyone else's? Do you have some inside information other posters don't?

You've got to back it up with more than "it's true because I say it's true." If I wanted that schtick, I'd watch Fox News.
Haha yeah because cnn tells the truth right?

When you've got a broken ankle you can cuss, yell at god, swear up and down youre going to do what you want, and go run a marathon because dangit you want to.

But the truth is you'll make it about 20 feet because you're in a boot with a broken ankle.

Everything on the offense starts with the oline. If they can't block nothing works. You're asking Helton to run a marathon on a broken ankle. He can try to work around it with quick passes and misdirection, but that's using a crutch to hobble around the house. It gets the minimum. You do the best you can till it heals.

Right now Will Friend is the one that's got pressure.

What are you talking about.... I don’t care that he talks like us. Pullman had 3 stars on campus when leach got there and he didn’t “coach” them up....it took him 3-4 years getting players that fit his system before there were competitive....Give Pruitt time and all of us will end up happy.

Said it during the coaching search it was crucial to hire a PROVEN head coach. Im glad Phil is back but he should of went through with the Mike Leach hire. He has one of the worst power 5 programs playing respectable ball the past few years.
So now we're satisfied with a mediocre hire?

For the most, the team looks a lot like they did in the second half of the season last year. Different scheme maybe, but they’re still pretty much the same team.

I have no idea if CJP can turn things around, but I do believe we won’t really have much of a sense of it until we’ve seen a couple of recruiting cycles.

It’s pretty simple. The players on the field right now, talented or not, are losing the vast majority of their individual matchups. Interior guys are just flat out getting manhandled. We’re still “soft” as was suggested last year.

Again, I’m not saying CJP is the savior, but I don’t think you can correct all that in one offseason.

Faith works for some. Nothing wrong with that perspective. However CJP has zero history of head coaching let alone changing a culture or coaching kids up. Leach on the other hand has made a career of it. This could have been his chance to coach Top 15 talent.

Of course he wouldnt "fit in" Whatever that means...

Leach is a very weird dude which is why he wouldn’t have coached us to the level of a championship team.... we definitely would have been entertaining to watch though.

It is true that Pruitt hasn’t proven anything but he has the attributes to be a great coach. Other coaches that hadn’t proven that they could do anything when first hired at their first big time job..... Saban, Swinney, Smart to name a few.... Give the man time

How much talent did Spurrier have at Duke when he came here and kick TN butt ? Nobody is saying there is NC talent over there but there should be enough to kick Florida around on our home field.
