From a fan with much LP Field experience: If you are buying tickets on eBay or craigslist -- look for tickets in the Loge. This is the part of the upper deck that hangs down over the club level. Section #s are the same as the upper deck but are rows A-F only. You'll have to walk up the same upper deck ramps but when you walk out to the seats, you'll walk down to Loge. These are by far the best views in the stadium unless you are at the 50 in club and lower level. I don't particularly care for walking up to the loge, but the view is great.
Lower level is good but only better than loge if higher than about 20-25 rows. You don't have a good view in lower if you are in rows A-T. Higher is better in lower level. It doesn't go up very steeply and you don't get much "top" view.
As far as hotels go, don't stay at any on the east side of the river. It is an easy walk from anything between Bridgestone arena and the river, plus you can leave your car at the hotel.
Best food choice are the burgers at Logan's in the end zones or KFC chicken fingers.
Post if you have questions.
