Interceptions = 0

In spite of all the times he got hit (including a nasty one on the first play), JG did not generally over hold the ball or throw it into uncatchable situations. I thought he looked a good bit better than last year and considering the piss poor Oline play, he kept his composure fairly well. His running still left much to be desired but hard to say since he was always scrambling and I think they dont want to call many QB run plays and risk injury. One of the biggest concerns was whether we would have a decent QB. I think based on what we saw today, JG has grown and may well fit the bill. Now we just need to get an Oline to give him a few secs in a pocket.

What say ye, Vol Nation?

Thought JG was a bright spot.

JG isn’t the problem, it’s the OL, the DL, the secondary, and possibly the offensive playcalling.

I thought JG was a bright spot too. He stepped up his game and as Pruitt pointed out he kept his poise and a quarterback needs 10 players around him holding up their end for the offense to prevail.

This. The biggest tale of the tape is that we got beat at the line on both sides of the ball. My biggest concern is that we still are missing tackles and using poor fundamentals. Then, there was some unusual offensive play-calling but it was Tyson helton's first game.

JG looked as good as you could have possibly hoped behind the line we saw, especially in the 1st half. Tim Jordan looked really solid...I've always liked him...and London wasn't shabby in relief. Callaway and Jennings look like a solid receiving duo with Johnson helping out, as well. If we just get a reasonable effort from the defense, we are in that game today. That is where the improvement is going to need to be greatest before Florida. Pass rush and secondary has to improve significantly.

And we forced a turnover

I was surprised that Trey Smith was responsible for 2 drive killing false starts, including one that certainly cost us a TD in the 4th quarter. Also whoever was offsides on the last field goal should be benched for at least the next two games as punishment for costing us another TD at the end. That's a 14 point swing that would have resulted in at least a respectable showing, if still embarrassing overall.

Yeah, Ground Jordan and JG played a good game. Kennedy had a horrible start and Trey getting banged up didn't help.

Major concerns are with OL, CBs and DL. Maybe Paul Bain should play more. Good things happen when he's on the field.

I thought play calling went well. The OL just didn't execute. JG was getting hit too much or scrambling too much. Play calling made the right adjustments.

DL should be "see ball, get ball". They chased it well enough but it was behind them.

They didn't penetrate, fill gaps, or close.

Even though we lost I think we improved over last year and I'm confident we have the right guy and staff.

We have a quality QB and running back, the other 20 positions are questionable.

Tennessee got the only turnover of the day.

Only injury was Chandler, and hopefully it isn't too bad.

I think Jordan was real positive. I think Banks was positive. JG no interceptions was positive.
DBs need coaching and growth. No push from the Defensive Line. Two penalties from Trey Smith
