maybe he wouldnt qualify at UT so he's looking around for other options? I have no idea about the kids academic information, just throwing it out there as a possiblility

I think it either has to do with all the other db commits or it may be too far from home.

I agree with what everybody above is saying, especially since we currently have a lot of DB verbals, although that may change quickly (P. Martin/Loften grades). I think Tino is an underrated recruit. I could usually give 2 craps about losing 3 star recruits, but Tino really impressed the coaches when he camped at UT and after reading about him he seems like a good guy. He is 6'1, 190lbs, 4.4 40 speed, those stats make him look like one hell of a CB, especially his size. Also, he comes from a high school that regularly produces D1 talent, so it would be nice to get him. I wish him the best.

I concur...I am just guessing, if they did talk to him about looking around or GS'ing, that they're more comfortable at DB than other spots right now.

He may be just talking smack, or he may have been asked to look around, or he may be afraid of the competition, or he may truly be conflicted. Whatever happens wish him the best.

Maybe the kid's just decided to play the recruiting game. Maybe he wants to stay close to home. Maybe he's afraid of being a little fish in a big pond. Or maybe he was asked to grey-shirt or look elsewhere. There could be any number of reasons he's waffling or he may not even be waffling at all. Panic and/or outrage is silly at this point. IF Dooley cut him this close to NSD, it's wrong imo, but chances are we'll never know. I hope the kid comes here if he wants to be here, but if this is his decision, then best of luck to him.

Or maybe it's actually what he said it is. He went on a visit and really, really liked the people. Not everyone is motivated by the same things. If the kid said something, then maybe we should take him at his word until we have evidence that we shouldn't. Just a thought.

Yeah there's just something intangible about the process, you can have the best of everything from technology to Winning, but it has to just feel "right" to that particular player, it's a feeling that can't be quantified or measured

If we can get better talent and the kid can go to a good program I have no problem asking him to look around. Like an earlier post stated sec football is a BUSINESS! Better talent equals more wins, more wins equals more support and more big bowl games. Bigger bowl games and more support equals more money for the team. Why do osu, bama, texas and Usc have so much money? So much success? So many great recruits? It's all a business, they bring in the top talent and reap the benefits!! We need to do the same.

Hmmmm....

I'm glad that I do not do business with you.

There is that nasty little thing called integrity that seems to be missing in a lot of folks that post here and possibly at the top of our staff. I would hate for that to be the case as it kinda blows holes in the "Vol for Life" program.

but why would he put it that way if they asked him to look around? if i was a recruit, and my school did that to me, id be angry and bitter. This almost makes it seem like hes trying to play it off like hes the one deciding to look elseware.

im thinking that maybe the UT coaches have just not kept very much contact with him, leaving him feeling unwanted. maybe the family comments about his visit to usm are about their staff making him feel like more of a priority than UT's staff. could be UT's way of pushing him out the door without having to throw him out.

he's a high school kid wanting to see the field as soon as he can. with us taking 2 more db's this week, he may like his chances better at USM...coaches there may have made him feel like he was a priority, not just another commit.

I don't see how we can view this has a bad thing, pending it being the truth. This means nothing more then we think someone that is better or higher on our board is coming to UT. hate it for Tino, I wish him the best but I take this as good news if it turns out to be true
