Timothy Duffy

Hello Vol Nation. I am in the person in the video about Timmy. To clarify a few things. Timmy worked in the Brooklyn North Homicide Squad, not in the 6th pct. There is another person with the name Tim Duffy who works in the 6th pct. but that is not OUR Timmy. We did go to a game this year (Alabama). We tailgate in the Wendys on the strip. Not sure what game we are going to do next year but we will definitely be there to support the Vols. Thank you for the kind words you all expressed about both Timmy and the rest of us. It is greatly appreciated. A few of us went to the Music City Bowl and a fellow Vols Fan approached us after seeing the NYPD flag and told us she saw the video and thought it was a very moving story. It is nice to know that many other people were touched by the tragedy we have had to endure. Thanks again and GO VOLS!!

Welcome to the VN. I think we saw you guys at the Music City Bowl, saw the NYPD flag anyway. Go Vols!

Great story/video!!! On a somewhat negative note, concerning the VOLS and police officers, did anyone notice the BAR Knoxville sign in the background during the video. :)

Thats a great story. Anyone know if those guys post on here?

Searched and wanted to find this video again...I am one of the ones who tailgate with them and knew timmy all my life. Hes was my uncles bestfriend and a close friend to my dad. We still make the trip to knoxville each year to watch the vols. A shorter drive the last 2 years because some of us have re located to middle Tennessee.

GBO!!!!

Glad you bumped this thread - I never saw the story until just now and was very moved by it.

I'm curious... How did the first fan in the group, your uncle (?), become a fan of the Vols?

Yes my uncle was the first true vols fan in the family...my grandfather is originally from Centerville Tn. He moved up to Long Island New York when he was 21. Met my grandmother and started a family. My grandfather still had family down in Tn that everyone would visit every summer. Long story short everyone started migrating back to Tennessee because of the ridiculous cost of living in New York and we all became UT fans. I moved here 2 years ago but visited all the time growing up and would see the power T all over and started watching them about 20 years ago.

In New York college football doesn't exist....I'm from long island so we used to have hofstra, but nobody went to the games so they stopped playing football. I've always loved college football 10x beyter than the NFL and when I realized how big college football was down here even at 5 years old I loved it....been watching the Vols ever since....

Very cool! I've always like college football better than the NFL as well (I hardly ever watch the pros and can't say that I even have an NFL team). I just like the college game and everything about it so much better - the game itself, the players, the traditions, the atmosphere, the pageantry, and the passion that surrounds it make it a lot more fun.

Happy to have y'all as a part of Vol Nation. :hi:

Thanks for bumping this thread. I also missed it the first time around.

A question that immediately came to my mind is whether CBJ is aware of this story. With his family police history, it just seems like a natural opportunity for building strong connections and extending goodwill, especially heading into the Holiday season.

Suggestion to any of you news types: Here's your opportunity for a really feel good Thanksgiving/Christmas story.
