Times Free Press - Jonathan Crompton

Set us back 10 years? You mean like the VERY NEXT YEAR when he lost one game as a starter and was the last UT QB to beat BAMA? Or the year after that when he was the last UT QB to go to Atlanta? You're a blithering idiot. And for what it's worth Crompton has done several interviews where he admitted he was uncoachable in 06/07 and both parties have agreed that was part of Cutcliffes decision to take the Duke job AND not to come back in 09.

He had two years to recruit over Crompton and didn't. Plus, this is the same guy with Ainge that said we could have scored 40 or 50 on Bama when we barely put up 17 with those short passes from Ainge. There was no chance of a deep threat the entire time Cutclife and Ainge were together. Receivers had to make plays after the catch.

David Cutcliffe has sent 3 quarterbacks to the NFL from Duke. FROM DUKE, FROM ****ING DUKE!!

That should tell some of you all you need to know about the kind of coach he is. People going full retard I this thread.

Kiffin took Cutcliffe's reject and made him an SEC QB after just one season of working with him.

'We could have scored 40 or 50'

Sounds like Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe wasn't too impressed with the defense Alabama played during Saturday's 41-17 victory.

Among the gems from Tuesday's press gathering in Knoxville ...

- "I felt like we could have scored 40 or 50 points in that game if needed."
- "We stopped ourselves, really, for the most part."
- "You take really five or six plays out of it, I felt like we could score really every time we got the football."

Stevie Wonder could send Peyton and Eli to the NFL

Once again, what do Peyton and Eli have to do with the Duke QBs?? Which one of them played at Duke?

Just curious, but I did a Wiki search of these 3 QBs you say that he sent into the league and all I see is one there right now. Did they amount to anything in the league?

Oh, and some of you people really disgusted me in 2008 and 2009 by being as mean and vicious to a scholarship player that I can remember before or since. Really classless bunch of individuals, imo. Crompton deserved better fan support.

Actually if you look back I'm not the one who made the claim of three Duke QBs. I just reiterated the point that whatever happened at Duke had nothing to do with P or Eli.

Has nothing to do with Duke.. All to do with having franchise pro Qb's at College and future hall of famers

Then quit mentioning Peyton or Eli when someone mentions his QBs at Duke being successful. One has nothing to do with the other.

Cutcliffe spent more time trying to prop up Ainge's ego than he did developing Crompton. Ainge should have lost his scholarship after the 2005 LSU game. He set this program back 10 years.

Lol... Been years since we had this argument.

Whenever you "professionals" make claims that Cut isn't good at his job, well, you just sound....ummm.....stupid.

And for Crompton, that's sad and embarrassing to read as a fan. Some people need to learn that you can get as mad as you want without actually acting like a fool. It's ok to not be happy with a player's performance. It's not ok to attack him on social media, trash his family, or make random threats. Difficult concept, I know.

Thaddeus Lewis
Sean Renfree
Anthony Boone

They have all spent time in the NFL. I don't understand the Cutcliffe denial.

I actually went to his dads shop the other day and his dad was super nice when I said I was a big fan of Johns. He has a bunch of posters up of John and jerseys n such. John is working in Waynesville NC now and seems to be doing great! He's a great man and had some bad luck here and there but All of VN would love to have lived his path! He's a heck of a man and VFL!

If not for Cutcliff there would have never been Fulmers success! Look at the program at the times he was away. Took a while for it to decline after his first tenure but man did it nose dive and in a hurry after his second.

Dave Clawson screwed his head up. That offense he brought in, and the new DC was a double whammy.
Eventually, Kiffin saw that he was a pretty good passer on the roll, and moved the pocket a lot.

WHAT new DC? Chavis was still here.

Dudes, Ainge was good. Had a cannon for an arm and could place the ball in a square. He was tough as nails.

Just as Kiffin did with Crompton, all Cutcliff did with Ainge was have him throw slants and in with a few outs. No real deep threat at any time for either.

Edit-add: screens and quick screens.
