Kamara is out for a couple of weeks, Hurd is within shot of the all-time Tennessee rushing record. I don't see a defense getting in his way, save for Vandy. The dude runs angry, and he's a self-motivator and always up to a challenge. Time to watch a true workhorse cement himself in Volunteer Football history.

THE PLAY that started the Tennessee revival. A can't-lose attitude can change everything.

Hurd needed a rest just as much as anyone, I look for him to be very productive Saturday. OL should be strong, should be a good day in Columbia for the Vols.

GBO!!!

Yes, sir. Hope to see a lot of pistol this weekend. Go Vols!

Hope so, for the young mans sake alone. I can be a Nega-Vol at times but this kids has heart and committed to the Vols when we needed him to stay home and rebuild.

I seriously doubt it happens but it would be great if over the bye week they put in a set with a lead blocker and just let Hurd run down hill on a straight hand off. Forget the option and the zone read and stretch play for a series or two and just go big boy football on SCAR's front 7. Then when they move the safeties down in the box because Jalen's gashing them go over the top to Malone. Hey I can dream can't I?

South Carolina's freshman quarterback might test our DB's. He was looking good, accurate, good reads and fast feet. Should be a good game.

They have to help him get to the second level cleanly, when they do, he is a beast.

It all starts with the OL. I want to see some players back and the OL starting to click with both the pass protection and run blocking. We'll need both passing and running to be effective down this stretch. A one dimensional team cannot win.

And also some really really good defense would be nice.

Run Kelly on the outside and Hurd on the inside.

So do you think Hurd would have more success on the inside? The reason I ask is because he had not been very successful at running over and through folks this year and unless there is a hole, that is what he will have to do if he runs on the inside. Unless of course the OL improves dramatically this week and opens up holes.

That or maybe you think SC is not strong on the defensive line?

And when we go three an out several times doing this, you'll say - why did the coach do that. :)

They're not, but it should also be said that umass tore them up by running the edge. Seemed like their linebackers either aren't very fast and take bad angles or they don't make good/quick decisions. It's entirely possible too that they spent time on defense preparing for us instead of umass.

Perhaps with a beast Full back he could be something, but he's slow off the line and has little agility. He could prosper in a system like the titans run but that's the polar oposite of what system we run. Slow developing read option behind a patch work O line isn't gonna net him a 200 yard game against any defense.

Its almost criminal how poorly the OL has been since we got Hurd. Can you imagine Hurd with a consistently good OL? Oh my what could have been....

Hurd plenty of speed and agility. Our terrible OL and scheme make his talents look worse than they actually are.

I'd like to see Dobbs pull the ball and follow Hurd with Hurd pancaking someone on a block.

If the Vols hope to win out, Hurd and Dobbs will have to shoulder a great deal of the load:rock:

Hopefully Kelly gets half the carries. If Hurd gets injured we are done.

Yea, I get annoyed with how the OL seems to play better when Kelly is at RB. They need to play that well when Hurd runs too.
