Time to Support Crompton

i agree we should not personally bash Crompton. Also, the anti-Crompton movement (craigslist posting, FB etc.) has gotten out of control. But that is also a reflection of the democratic opinion of the volnation. We know we can't win with him and it drives us crazy. And we all know this is how the team feels as well, regardless of what they tell the media. I would have appreciated if Crompton said the following after the game.

"I threw 3 INTs and cost us the game. It is my fault. But I promise you this, next week against Florida, they will have to carry me off in a stretcher before I concede one inch. I will block, tackle, play special team and maybe even throw a few passes - but we will leave all on the field. The fans should expect no less".

Instead we got the following comment:
"we came close to winning" and taking no fault. CLK and G. Jones took the blame.
With the general negativity on the sidelines (sulking etc.), we just don't believe. we don't believe we have a chance. And that make people angry. BUT he is a college kid who doesn't deserve the abuse. We do deserve a puncher's chance in the game. We ain't getting that.

Good article by David Climer of the Tennessean concerning the treatment that Jonathon Crompton has received from some fans. I understand the passion we as fans have for our team. I understand the criticism CPF received over the past few years, and I understand the disappointment we all felt last year. Why do we let it become so personal.

JC is out there everyday, busting his butt to help this team be successful. What affect would it have if we actual supported him and cheered for him instead of boo him. If we showed our support by picking him up when he is down. Imagine the effort we would get if we showed how much we are behind him even when he makes a mistake.

I challenge everyone to stop living in the past, begin anew with the new coaching staff, and start supporting our entire team. Maybe then we will see the fruit of his labor.

Fans shouldn't trash Jonathan Crompton | tennessean.com | The Tennessean

he has my support. he still should be on the bench though.

Any chance we could start the chant "Let's go Crompton" whenever the UF (or other opponent) punt formation comes on to the field? And if it ever comes to Stephens starting just substitute the names and keep it going.

At the worst, it would have to help with future QB recruiting. And the good Lord knows we need that.
