Now that the dust has settled in the land of orange. It is that time for clk and the staff to go to work. I do hope that during this time vol fans take time to realize that Tenn still has alot of work ahead of them. I cannot believe some of the comments that I read on this site or hear on the radio (chatt.) regarding Tenn. chances of winning the Sec championship this season, or being a competitive force in the upcoming season. Are you kidding me?? CLK has accomplished nothing as a coach at any point in his short career. Sure you have big names on the roster, but so do the yankees. (Now, please refrain why I should not compare TN football and the yankees). I guess for me there are some question that I have for realistic vol fans.
1. Do you really think you will have any impact versus top tier teams in the sec over the next few years?
2. How long before your next conf. championship?
3. How long do you think Lane Kiffin will the the coach at the University of tn.

Also, someone should tell Kiffin that you may want to win some games before you go around talking crap about other programs in the SEC. I find it funny that some of you think he is sending a message to players or motivating them about not backing down. I think he is an inexperienced head coach who has never been in the spotlight and cannot keep his mouth shut. Spin it however you like fellas bottom line is, like the old saying goes, "You cannot make chicken salad out of chicken SH, well you know the rest". Good luck next year with the bullseye on your back.

I will answer his question for the sake of discussion.

1. Do you really think you will have any impact versus top tier teams in the sec over the next few years?
Yes, I believe that our impact next year is that we will beat the teams we should, SC, AUB, ect. and we will be competitive and maybe upset the teams that are more talented than us, GA, FL, BAMA. How do you say it playing up to your competition instead of down as we are used to.
2. How long before your next conf. championship?
I honestly think that the top 8 teams in the SEC every year have a chance, but I think you have to give next year to FL, but after that I think it will be anyones game. So I guess the answer is 2010.
3. How long do you think Lane Kiffin will the the coach at the University of tn
10 Years, One NC, 5 BCS Bowls and 3 SEC Championships.

1. Tennessee IS a top-tier team in the SEC by any objective measure. One bad season doesn't affect that.
2. No one knows
3. We just fired the Dean of SEC Coaches after 17 years, two conference championships, and a NC. Why would you question a Tennessee coach's longevity prospects? Again...no one knows.

It's funny how the same people who said "Give Fulmer time. He can do it, just give him some time. He needs time." are the same people now talking about "Kiffin needs to prove his worth NOW. Kiffin has to show me what he's got, I'm tired of waiting."

1. No. I don't play college football. I am way too old now.

2. See #1

3. Don't know. Hopefully a long time.

The Vols will be just fine. Thanks for your concern.

The outpouring of support from our competitors' fans is astounding to me. I have never seen universal concern for a single team from all the others before.

I want all of them to know that we genuinely appreciate their worry and hope they'll be back next season after they've used this mountain of bulletin board material in just beating our socks off.
