Greetings Volunteer fans!

I watched the UT - Cal game and am sure that if it was played again next Saturday, UT would win. The two teams appeared very evenly matched. The last time Southern Miss played Cal, it was in Hattiesburg several years ago. They were supposed to blow us out with a Rose Bowl invitation riding on the outcome of the game. Let's just say they didn't get the invite.
In anycase, it's on to week 2 now. Or is it week 3 yet, with the Florida Gators? Since the game is a sell out, I will have to settle for PPV. Though I wish I could be there to experience the game day atmosphere. A friend of mine has already played the USM-UT game on XBOX. In the driving rain. In the game, he was able to substitute great former players from each school. I wonder what the outcome would be if Southern Miss was playing with Brett Favre, and Tennessee was playing with Peyton Manning? Hazard a guess?

Peace- GO EAGLES!!! :shades:

Pass the bottle.

Greetings from the Vol Nation. Sorry if we're a little sour right now. . . . .but you understand.

I'm expecting Southern Miss to stack the line and UT beat them deep.

Southern Miss's RB is no slouch, he had 159 yds in 3 quarters vs UT Martin and rushed for over 1300 yds last season.

Someone said Southern miss is on the edge of the top 25. Bad match-up.

Word... Cal was just better and more fired-up than we were.

But, looking forward to next week's game! I'll have to see if I'm able to catch it or not.

I wouldn't go that far, but they def. rank right there with teams like Boise, Fresno, TCU and BYU as one of the best mid-majors out there, more often than not.

Southern Miss will win the C-USA. No that doesn't say too terribly much and there is a chance they could implode, but they're probably the best team there. I wouldn't be surprised if they go 11-1 or 10-2. That would get them into the Top 25.

I personally think this game would have been the perfect 1st game match up for us. They have a good ground game, but not deadly. They can pass the ball, but not like Cal, and their defense is always steady. It would have been an adequate game to start out with, but now it turns into a game people are worried about, but shouldn't be.
