Last year's obvious talent deficit makes it hard to make the case that the Clawfense was the problem or that fans and boosters were wrong to believe that the program was headed downward in 2008 and beyond.

Bringing Cut back is an idea only Eric Bischoff could love.

We were on third and fourth string LB's, and sometimes DB's. I'd say our D was hurt by injuries this season and thats why it seemed to worsen. I didn't much care for Lane's playcalling, but I think that monte's D was a thing of beauty.

After watching Reviez and Frazier fill they're gaps and make plays on the ball, I noticed Lathers being out of position A LOT. Mistakes a 3rd string freshman MLB will do, but that Ole Miss game was a disaster for him.

anyone who thinks the drop off of our defense was due to coaching and not injuries is just not willing to let those pesky things like facts get in the way of their opinions.

I have never understood how everybody was so hungup on MK? I never thought he was all that, way before he ever came to UT. IMPO

Every team has injuries every year.

Injuries weren't what prevented the greatest defensive playmaker in UT history from being mis-used (and against V-Tech, abused).

Just look at the stats, it's all there.

And Monte had a friendlier offense keeping his defense off the field than last year's.

Monte was easily outschemed in the first half of the Auburn game, and just didn't seem to make any adjustments for the Ole Miss debacle. What happened with Va. Tech, I'll never know.
