Not a bad read, but comparing CDD to the little general on the plains will not do CDD any favors.

Are you suggesting we keep DD away from the offspring of boosters?

UT was and is staring 6-6 right in the eyes next year regardless of the coaching staff.

I'm thinking that a "Dually(Dooley) Pickup" analogy might be appropriate at the present time....dependable, hard working, and not as big. We'll have to see just how far it takes us, and just how many can/will climb aboard. Personally, I'm in!

But the comparison to the job Bowden did should not insult Dooley....bottom line, two smart, young coaches who showed signs of having a lot of determination.....Bowden put a pretty good program together, ran off some renegade coaches, and if he had the support of his major booster, who knows what would have happened?

A lot was said when he left....hard to separate truth from fiction.

I was a Lane supporter because he was our coach. That said, I don't think CDD will ever say anything that makes us cringe.

I never really minded TB. What he did with Auburn was remarkable.

All we really know about Dooley is that he spent 7 years with Saban...so he ain't lazy.

It's also pretty clear that, although he knows how to make use of the resources available to him (Saban, his father, etc.), he is not a coattail rider. He plainly wants to be his own man, and he has made an effort to take on his own challenges and learn from experience. In my mind, those are big positives.

If he has anything resembling Kiffin's organization and mind for strategy, he will ultimately be successful here.

Nice attitude.
I liked what Lane did with Crompton and the offense.
I felt Monte was overrated (the numbers indicated it, too).
I have a good feeling about Derek Dooley....if he gets the support.

And we know he can recruit. What tb did was amazing, but he did it with dyes players. He was on the recruiting school short bus. We don't have to worry about that with dd. :)

I agree the fact Monte was overrated. He was clueless dealing with the spread. I also have a good feeling about Coach Dooley. He has my full support.:good!:

Ding ding ding! The preponderance of whiney defeatism running rampant here in the days after Kiffy's departure, and especially in the wake of Coach Dooley's hire, was absolutely nauseating.

If our former coach got a free pass for a mediocre season due to the situation he inherited, Dooley ought to get two or three. Whether he does is another story. I don't want to hear any of the Volnation complain about other schools' fans. There are plenty of

Lane is a good coach and it was expected that our weaknesses would be improved over the course of the season since we had such good coaches across the board..

What I didn't like was the fact that our defense seemed to get worse as the season went on.. Was it that Monte was overrated? Or was it our lack of depth at key positions? Either way is there really an excuse to be made? How the heck does one guy rush for over 200 yards before the defensive "guru" says "hey, this guy's gonna kill us if i don't adjust. Looking at Tampa Bay's last couple of seasons during the Kiffin era, I notice that they were not that great.

What is up with the KNS and their inability to accurately reports stories (i.e., Cutcliff is our coach, Steele is our DC)? Is the rush to be first more important than actually being right? The state of journalism is sad.

I agree with you, but it's not just KNS. You nailed it in your last sentence: the state of journalism is sad. Every news outlet is trying to "scoop" the competition.

To be fair, though, KNS was very cautious with how it worded its coach search updates. You would see something like "Cutcliffe to UT?", or "Calhoun a candidate". I never really saw the KNS site deal in absolutes -- and I refreshed that page *many* times.

We were on third and fourth string LB's, and sometimes DB's. I'd say our D was hurt by injuries this season and thats why it seemed to worsen. I didn't much care for Lane's playcalling, but I think that monte's D was a thing of beauty.

After watching Reviez and Frazier fill they're gaps and make plays on the ball, I noticed Lathers being out of position A LOT. Mistakes a 3rd string freshman MLB will do, but that Ole Miss game was a disaster for him.
