Over his 5 years here at UT, he has gone through some of the roughest moments a tennessee athlete has ever gone through. He has received Hate mail, had death threats, and been publicly ridiculed for the past two years.

It would have been easy for a young athlete to transfer, quit, or just not try after all of this, but Jonathan Crompton did the exact opposite, he worked even harder and gave everything he had every day. He stayed later with his receivers, coaches, and legitimately got better!

Now he is going to go down as one of the most (statistically) successful quarterbacks we've had here, being at or near the top of the conference in TD passes and Yards. We must remember him for this rapid improvement. In my eyes, hes in a select class of people that are true bled Tennessee vols.

Guys that really have bled orange for their time here and players we will always remember for being just as good of players as guys (others in this would be Will Bartholomew, Justin Harrell, Tee Martin, Travis Stephens, Jason Allen, Haynesworth, Will Overstreet, Wes Brown and now Jonathan Crompton)

Anyways, Praise this young man! We will definately, always remember him!

GBO!

Ive been givin JC credit since the Auburn game. I think all he's been thru, he deserves all the credit in the world. We bashed this kid bad and he came back and shut all of us up in a hurry. The way the fans treated him, me included, and he comes back and plays like this, still bleeds orange and hasnt belly ached about it at all, this kid must have ice water runnin thru his veins. It does make me mad at myself for being one of the fans that asked for him to be benched, I was WAY wrong!! Congrats JC, you will be missed!!

He definitely deserves an apology from whoever threatened his life.
That could even be funny if that person sent him a letter apologizing, and then giving him credit for the turn around.

He definitely deserves a ton of praise. I didn't think he would ever turn it around after the Auburn game but he proved a lot of people wrong. With that determination and work ethic he will go far in life.

I don't see how that could be construed as funny in any sense of the word. It is beyond pathetic no matter what kind of apology is offered.

Anyone who threatens someone over a football game has SERIOUS issues...

Crompton has done a great job over the course of the year and has improved tremendously. I was a critical as anyone at the beginning of the year and he has made me and thousands of other people eat our words. Good for him.

Funny to Crompton for getting to watch the guy eat his words and man-up with an apology.

Great thread....Cromps definitely has some of the strongest resolve we've seen as Vol fans. We have been very rough on him as a whole. The death threats we're totally ridiculous, no real Vol fan would ever dream up such a thing. The way he turned his season around, really was the reason we they had a good season. So thank, Jon..you will be missed, and will always be remembered for your character as well as your skills.

I commend Crompton on his unflappable nature and his hard work. I was at the Auburn game and was out getting food at halftime and every single fan was dog cussing him and Kiffin for not benching him. I told them all that he would get it together and that you just had to have faith in Kiffin....now I never thought he would get it together like this, but I knew he had it in him to be a winning quarterback....glad he came through!!

Great turn around! Kifffin said on his show he wished J.C had one more year and the funny thing is I feel the same way! Great job and good luck in the future J.C.

Were there actually death threats, or is it something people are just saying to romance the story? If there were, someone should be arrested. It's illegal to make a death threat.

Maybe... who knows. I'm not sure how I would feel in his place, given his age and life experience. It's hard to conceive getting death threats over football games.

I got in an arguemnt with a guy sitting near me during the Oio game. He was absolutely livid that JC was still playing. I tried to tell him that CLK had our best players out there but he wouldn't listen. Pissed him off when I asked how many practices he had attended to judge the QBs. I looked for him at the Vandy game to see if he had come around but couldn't find him.
I never was a JC hater but I did feel as though our QB choices were limited this year. Thanks for the great year Cromp--we appreciate you now more than ever. And we will miss him next year!

Been in many news reports that he received them during the season last year, and some people said that 2 of them were made by Tennessee professors!

I was openly fustrated with johhny. I have a friend whos son played with John in highschool. There was a reason he was highly recruited. He was a gamer, a great passer, and runner. John won many games by himself.

Now that I have seen him improve as he has this year, My fustration has turned from jon to fulmer. CPH damn near ruined that boy, thank God Kiffin came in when he did. John will go on to the pros and I suspect we havent seen the last of him. if he goes to a team with a solid starter and gets time and coaching under a good qb coach, hes a diamond in the rough.

the same thing happened around here too. There were quite a few calling for JC's head while others realized the best guy was playing

I admit that I completely 100% gave up on Crompton the week before the Georgia game. Then there was the Georgia game. Wow. Maybe he had to hit rock-bottom before climbing back to the top. He's a genuine Tennessee success story, and he deserves all the honors he receives.

Let's also note that the receivers also played a role in this turnaround. They finally started running the correct routes and catching the well-thrown balls. Things just started clicking for this team. Too bad it happened a little too late.

Yeah there were death threats, he spoke about them in seriousness in interviews quite often at the beginning of the season
