I must confess. Several years of frustration built up and said I'm done and went to bed. A little later my son came to me and said we're in OT. I watched OT and thank to DVR I was able to rewind. Sorry vols!

Ok. I admit it. I turned it off but kept up with it on the ESPN app. When I saw them pull within one I turned it back on but I'm too superstitious so I turned it off so that I didn't jinx them. LOL.

Oh man, I am the same way. When they are losing, I grimly watch the axe fall, but when they get up or get close, I turn the channel, lest I jinx them. Then I play channel tag.

My wife thinks that I am totally insane for doing this but it's been YEARS now.

Was watching and on here up until the end. Somewhere in the madness of the unofficial game thread I even said I was hanging in til the end when we went down by 14.

I feel pretty good about my optimistic post amidst the Fahr Butch and "this team is weak" talk.

I left the Alabama game in a drunken rage when we went down 27-0. When i got back to my place and turned on the game i saw how we battled back and immediately regretting leaving. from then on i told myself not to quit on the vols. When we gave up that huge run against scar 3 of my roommates left, but i still believed we could do it. And we did! best decision ever.

I did. Found out well after game we had won. They seem to do better when I'm not watching.

Watched and recorded the whole game. I admit I almost turned it off after the long 3rd down conversion and the long TD with about 5 minutes left but I'm so glad that I didnt!!

This is a great thread. I thought it was over but couldn't accept that we were going to lose again, so kept watching out of spite. Could not believe what I was seeing. When they missed the field goal, I was so drunk I thought I was watching a replay of some prior usc game. Still haven't proccessed what happened. Felt like I was watching some kind of crazy Tony Robinson/Andy Kelly hybrid in Dobbs.

I have never in my entire life left early from a game or turned a game off early.I hoped everyone that missed it learned a lesson.

admit....stopped watching and said a few choice words when it was -14 w/ 4 ish minutes to go....my son, an Alabama student called me back in to see the last score and OT....sad, but true...just haven't seen anything lately to think they'd score 14 in less than 4 minute of a ball game....glad I was wrong!

You poor, poor man.... you have my sympathies. But good on you for still claiming him. I'm not sure I would have the courage.

As always when possible, I watched it all. Here's the funny story though (long post alert):

Went to church this morning wearing my orange dress shirt and tie (usually wear it win or lose). Coincidentally, we have had a candy donation challenge going on, so our pastor (LSU fan) was wearing an actual game-worn Citrus Bowl edition Vol jersey.

So, the pastor, myself and my wife (orange-ish dress) are all standing in the hall talking when a lady I've known for about 20 years comes walking through. She makes a comment about the pastor wearing orange, then kind of lowers her head and says, "If only we had something to be proud of for wearing it.... oh well."

I then asked her if she realized we won last night. She said cut it out, don't mess with me like that. The pastor then jumps in and affirmed that we did indeed come back and win. She still wouldn't believe it. She just kept laughing at us as if we were pulling her leg. I tried to explain how Dobbs brought us back from 14 down in 4 minutes and we then won on a FG in OT. She just kept saying there was no way because her son (college-aged) would have called her to let her know if that had happened. I even told her to pull out her smartphone and check it out.

She eventually went on her way saying nice try guys, I'm not buying it. LOL.

A few minutes later she walked back by and acknowledged we were correct. I guess she heard it from enough people to finally believe.

Never turn off the game. Never.

I have never given up on the Vols, and I ALWAYS watch until the end win or Lose, a game is 60 minutes, and it's never over until all the time on the game clock has expired. Vol fans who stayed with this team until the end were rewarded for their loyalty! GBO!

I didn't quit on the game, but after Thompson's scramble for a 1st down on 3rd and 18 (?), I did leave the room in disgust for a few minutes. So, I missed Wilds' 70 yard touchdown run. I came back and saw that we had the ball and was pleasantly surprised, since I didn't look at the score. It wasn't until we scored the next (and what I thought was the tying) touchdown that I looked down at the score and realized that SC scored a touchdown while I was out of the room.

Here I thought that we had just tied the game and then discovered that we still needed another touchdown in less than 2:00. Obviously I was pretty distraught by that. But I stuck with it anyway and was so happy to see it work out after all (seriously, how the heck did we go 85 yards in just over a minute, with no timeouts? wow).

So we get down two TDs late and I text my daughter, told her I was done headed for bed. But then I decided to stay up as I just can't give up. But because I told my daughter I was done, she did go to bed. This morning she was not very happy with me especially when I confessed I watch it and it was glorious!

Lol. The lesson I learned was I was glad I went and did something fun with my son instead of us sitting there being frustrated. DVR is a bonus so you can still watch it if it goes good. In fact after yesterday I plan on doing it more often.
I salute all of you doing it the other way. I have countless times before. I stayed until the bitter end of UF at Neyland this year as an example. Both ways have their benefits.

Being frustrated is part of the fun. You cant really appreciate the good times unless you are thete for the bad ones. Turning the game off is a cop-out. Im glad our players and coaches dont just quit or give up when they get frustrated.

I admit, the thought crossed my mind to turn off the TV last night when we went down 14 late in the fourth quarter. Losing hurts. Luckily, I watched until the sweet end.

I also admit that I was picking up my things to leave the 1998 Arkansas game with a couple of minutes left, but my son would not let me.

Just wondering if anyone will admit to turning off the game before the miraculous comeback. I am sure some did.

I always stay or watch to the end. This sport is nuts. Learned my lesson in the 96 Bama game.

I knew my dad turned the tv off and hit the sack. I called him prior to last score in regulation, woke him up. This morning he called to say thanks.
