Time to boycott yet?

In my view, the best way to boycott would be at the concession stand. Attend if you have tickets and show support for the players, but skip buying any drinks or food to send a message to the AD.

This. Make it known all over that you'll be at the game but won't give one penny to the concessions.

Concession contracts are pre-negotiated between the vendors and UT. TN has already been paid and buying concessions or not buying doesn’t change a dime TN gets.

Just like all ticket sales have already been made. Boycotting games doesn’t change a thing monetarily for TN. They’ve already been paid.

An empty neyland is bigger than anything . I hate it for the players but the biggest crime is butch getting 5mill a season for this garbage.

And don’t buy anything Nike or Tennessee apparel.

That's all well amd good but at the end of the day, big picture...i appreciate all who play for the Vols and work their asses off. We sit here on the frigggin interweb passing judgement while they balance practice and school. I'm not gonna support that. The coaching thing will work itself out. I'm not gonna be that guy who bails on those actually doing the work because i don't like 1 guy...regardless of how silly you think i am.

Wow....an adult response on VN. I'd throw you a like if it was working. Some of you need to quit kicking your heels and whining. I don't like ass whuppins either, but some of you need to grow up and man up. As someone else already said, UT football is bigger than Butch Jones.

This is true but the athletic dept and UT admin is always thinking about the future. If only 90,000 fans show up for the SCAR game they don’t think “well we sold 102,000 tickets for this game so who cares if they show up.” What they think is “if fans aren’t going to show up for this SEC game they already bought a ticket for then why will they renew their season tickets next year if we don’t make a change”

I'm not going to go to the games live until the "Shotgun at the Goal Line" offensive scheme is changed. It's a pet peeve that I'm just not going to go watch in person.

You are absolutely correct . College football is a business and as long as the administration and boosters( boosters are rich business guys) see fans in the seats they see money and future revenue. When they see 70000 0r 80000 people in the stands they see money going down the drain. Then they will make a move. If you want to support the team then i would do whatever it takes to see to it they get a better coach. A coach that helps them win games and achieve their goals. Let the powers that be see empty seats empty cash registers and empty wallets and we will have a new coach.

Boycott? Really? Yer right...F the players who work their asses off. Show em and all future recruits we are fickle and don't support the work they do. Great idea.

I wish more the morons on here realize this. Bailing on the team is not going to make any coach want to come here or any players went to come here. Then it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of losing seasons.

i would also like to ad that not one of our players signed up for that butt whipping they got yesterday. Their coaches have let them down not the other way around. look at it this way . Players pay the program with their time and effort . Fans pay with their hard earned money. Butch Jones gets paid millions to be here and then he puts a product on the field that looks like it did Saturday and the Saturday before that. Seems to me the only person that still benefits from this putrid football is the coaches especially Jones.

Have you seen our offense the last 2 weeks ? Recruits are paying way more attention to that than they are how the fans react or if there are empty seats . Watching this offense why would anyone want to come play for Jones . That hurts our recruiting more than anything not how many fans are at the game.

You think a losing coach will help? That's the problem. Everyone has settled on being the laughing stock. These players don't care about us, they care about their golden ticket opportunity and that's it. As long as we keep packing the stadium the AD is happy cause they are making money. Vol Nation has done it's share, we have stood by for over a decade and supported this program through its ups and downs. EVERYONE has passed us and are currently lapping us. This is a race we that we don't have a driver for. Your not going to miss anything the rest of the season. But the AD will miss us and it will get the attention needed to get us a COACH. If we wait what coaches that could change us around will go to another program and we're back to the Dooley days. Heck, we're there now. Stop supporting garbage, let your voices be heard and let's push for change. This is not acceptable. I'm still a fan, win or lose, but there is no satisfaction in watching us go down the drain just to be labeled loyal

I'm there with the NFL but not the Vols. Tennessee is bigger than Jones

I look at it like business. Haslam does. Haslam controls UT football and hasn't been committed to winning. Boycott Haslam. Business decisions.

But the Vols? No way, they're in my blood and bigger than one transient coach. If Butch is let go, it'll be because he's not doing the job he's paid incredibly well to do and the powers that be will decide that a change is necessary. I'll be here supporting the team, the players and program no matter what, whether Sgt Carter is the coach or not.

Spoken like a true blind sheep. At the end of the day Tennessee football is a product to be consumed and we are the consumers. Don't pretend that it's not. It's not "in your blood." It's a very high profile brand that has built equity by consistently delivery quality product for years. However, even the highest profile brands lose loyalty for producing inferior product. When you do this for a decade or more, even the most hardcore fans of the brand are forced to make a decision. Fans can demish their own value by blindly accepting whatever the decision makers want to give you. They can walk away and find a new brand that meets their needs. Or they can attempt to force the brand to hear their voice, make changes, and continue to meet their needs. So the choice is simple: Leave, stay and try to force change, or stay and beg for table scraps?

Black out Neyland should be the next gimmick for the Jones era. We should all wear black to the USCjr game and blackout the stands.

This is silly. Allowing attendance to decline (i.e. Money to stop flowing in), will force the administrations hand to make a change. It's not telling the players we don't support them. And really, a boycott isn't even necessary. It happens automatically. How excited are you to go spend a bunch of money to see a ut game right now. There's high school games you can go see for free that are better coached and more organized than ut football right now. Attendance will be down the rest of the year.

I'm not sure you can make that distinction. You think when the players look up in the stands and see that it's empty, that it won't affect them?

Only way to effect change is to show empty stands. If the stands are empty thus concessions sales are down then that will get their attention. If you give your tickets away then the seat will still be filled. We all know the only record the administration cares about is the P&L. If SC game starts out with 70,000 or less and then high percentage leaves at halftime....that will put into motion some coaching changes.
