As January 8th arrives with no coordinator announcement imminent, I am forced to admit that my sparkling hope for a bright new addition to our staff has been dimmed.

We have, I believe, reached the point of diminishing returns. The Clawson interview seems to me a case in point that Phillip's interview process is now about peeking under rocks. There can of course be some pretty tough critters hiding under those rocks, but the chances of a dynamic hire are certainly not so hot.

My optimism is waning. Surprise me Phillip. Please.

be careful OWH, they'll say that you sound like me. Im still trying to figure out where this big splash is going to come from. Can we safely say that Doug Matthews has no idea what he's talking about now?

He certainly appears to have been mistaken...

While I certainly agree with you ghuys, I am still holding out hope that Phil has his man and for some reason; which will be explained; can't announce until a certain date. All of these unknown guys have to be for position coaches...I hope

Maybe I'm being too optimistic here but at this point I'm more encouraged by the idea of new blood and a major over haul of outsiders coming in to the program than I am discouraged by the lack of a "big splash".

A sort of Todd Raleigh effect?....:p

Hey, I copped to possibly being overly optimistic didn't I?! I qualified the statement first, but it seemed like everyone was waiting for Jesus Christ himself (or Hatcher) to be named OC but it kept looking more and more like Adkins was a realistic candidate. If that's the alternative then new blood works for me!

Come on. Really??? He said from the beginning he had a list and he was going to go through the process. Settle down.

At this point I feel like:

Look under rocks > Promote whoever happens to sit in the office next to mine

No question about it. I am just having a little fun this morning. This is what happens whenever I read "calm down' on our message board.:eek:lol:

well, i guess i 'm with you OWH. i was holding out hope that today would be the day that CPF would announce who it would be and prove to everyone that he did in fact have a plan and it got executed.

since there is no announcement, it has all the makings of a coach that is now scrambling to find someone.

as more time rolls on the less excited i think i'm going to be when it is announced.

Everything is still possible, a big splash, a bright and shiny new OC, etc. but the probability is diminishing by the day. Come on, Phil, show us the plan!

Relax fellas, all rumors, speculation and insider quotes pointed to today(tuesday) being the announcement day. Its not even noon yet, be patient.

.....if nothing comes out today.. be afraid....be very afraid!!

Do we want a "big splash" or an OC that is going to do a great job? Might be two in the same. Might not. But some want a big splash just for the sake of a big splash.

Ummm, Fulmer has already stated that he will most likely not be making an announcement today. We dont have to be afraid just because he does not announce today.

and all those rumors have proved to be just that, rumors. No date was ever set for an announcement.

i think people just want to feel like CPF has a plan. last week it was "wait until next tuesday" as the weekend and yesterday played out, it's now "wait and see". and as each candidate he's interviewed declines or accepts other positions, there's understandable reasons for trepadation and anxiety over this hire.

as this drags on, it appears that the 1st choice has decided to do something else, and now we're on to plan b, c or whatever.....

anyway, i think we just want something to get excited about, and since this just keeps going, the excitement is slowly turning in to anxiety, understandably so.

having said all that, i still want to see who is hired before i become overly critical of the hire or the hiring process. the end justifies the means, then so be it. if not, then get ready.

here is what's going to happen (and if it does i'll be freaked out)......

fulmer will hire drayton and clawson and some other nut for position coaches and promote adkins as OC with fulmer really having his hand in it all, while adkins just has the title but still coaching the O line. its scary to think that but what else could it be, i believe CPF wants to be the puppet master in his whole staff now, hope he doesn't run the program in the ground
