All these threads are the same..FIRE BUTCH NOW! and then you ask them for replacement names and it's either a coach that wouldn't take this job or they don't answer...remember LSU threw the bank at Herman and he said no...and that is a better job than ours.

Exactly.

I'm betting Clemson fans said the same thing when they got blasted in the Orange bowl 70 to 33. I'm sure they were saying the same thing that many have said here.

The point of the post is that it doesn't matter who we bring in, as long as they aren't a complete dud.

The Butch project went into a nosedive after the SC loss and crashed big time after the Vandy loss. There is nothing positive left to take away from this season, and Butch's momentum going forward is at 0. He'll never be able to recreate the buzz going into this year.

We only harm ourselves by keeping him here, and I have more faith than you do that we could bring in a great hire if we actually committed to putting the bucks out there.

Actually there is. You evaluate the assistants and look for improvement there. And when you do so, you absolutely ignore who anyone in the media is high on and select based on what style will work with the group of players you have on board - because that is who you have to use.

At this stage, our problem is way bigger than assistants alone.

Nah, they will wait till it hits rock bottom so no one wants it that is a decent candidate so we can get an el cheapo coach.

What about Sarcasian (spelling) at Bama?

He still has a really long way to go in his recovery and his rebuild of his image. I don't think most UT fans would have wanted him even without the alcoholic stuff. His story is a sad one, I hope he recovers and stays healthy.

No, OP, that's now how we do it at UT. We give the guy another couple years until he runs recruiting into the ground (like not signing a single offensive lineman in a class). Then we make a Big Lots bargin Mid-Major hire, and give him five years because he inherited a "dumpster fire."

BTW, the dumpster was invented in Knoxville by the Dempster family.

If you can't play with the big dogs...stay on the porch! Butch is not a SEC level coach, needs to go back to the MAC!

Been saying this since 2013. He is a MAC coach learning on the job in the SEC. Remember the beat down Dooley put on his Cincinnati team.

Its hard to fathom going 8-4 after starting 5-0. Then when you think about it we have Butch Jones for a Coach and it all makes sense

It was also took a few huge ass breaks to be 5-0 due to coaching.

10-2 was the floor with 11-1 a real possibility.

Isn't Herman a Texas grad? Why would he even consider LSU when he had a Texas offer on the table? LSU would never be able to ante up to what Texas could offer.
