I really believe JG is the starting QB right now simply because, he is the best option. Those who think CJP simply has a thing for JG and, refuses to replace him just because he has a thing for him clearly doesn't know football preparation football games are played on Saturdays but, they are won during the week. We have a good football coach and, he will win big football games trust the process and, don't get so emotionally invested in one game Kentucky is next and, I gotta feeling we are going to put a whipping on some kitty cats

I think the qb situation is a mess. I don’t think we have a good option right now so he is going with the one who turns the ball over the least (Even though JG did). We don’t sit on on practices to see the competition so to act like we have a better qb is just crazy. I hope Bailey will be it but he got a late start and MOST freshman aren’t very good at the college level anyway. I thought we were a 5-5 team to start with but UK and Arky aren’t looking like easy wins anymore.

If he is the best option then both our recruiting and development suck.

Backup QB's need the reps. They can't get the reps in practice because JG is "#1". UT literally never has a strong enough lead in a game that even lets JG come out for a back up to get serious reps. Plenty of scrub teams to do it against. GSU? lol. No. BYU? Lol. No. Chattanooga? Lol. JG threw 8 times. The rookies had 11 chances...It was 38-0 at half...UAB? 30-0 in the 4th quarter..Shrout gets 6 chances to throw the ball.. Only meaningful reps come when JG gets benched.

JG is a green jersey practice QB. There is no pressure in practice so it makes things a lot easier to look good when you know you aren't getting hit. He also takes most of the practice reps. Then comes game day and every game he makes a mistake in you know it is over because he gets in his own head and actually gets worse. There is no way any sane person can convince me JG is our best option.

JP does not seem like the coach we thought he would be. He is great defensively but nothing on offense. He is headed towards Muschampville despite our hopes of him being next Saban.
Year 3, we still do not have a average SEC QB .. year 3 .. it is not like a QB he recruited failed. None of the guys he recruited in three years are as good as JG. That is the reality.
He is scared to take chances with new guys. He wants a game manager who can save his job as long as he can. Oh yeah, his best Friend has 5 stars all over the Oline and yet cannot go against a good pass rush or run against good D.

While Pruitt was lamenting about his 5*s not being good in protection, Lane Kiffin was using his Oline to give fits to Alabama.

Also, if Pruitt cared about long term here, he would have given Bailey or others reps in garbage time (almost whole 4th was garbage). What happens if JG gets injured or god forbid gets COVID ? Should your back up not get few reps ? Nothing last week, nothing this week.

Pruitt is lucky this is 'COVID Year' and even with 5-5 record Phat Phulmer won't be firing him.

I honestly don't know which would be the bigger problem. Either he's too stubborn to get over JG or he can't recruit and develop a QB for ****. Either way Pruitt's job hangs on JG and I'd gladly kick both of them out the door with anything worse than 7-3.

at worst we will finish 6/4 more likely 7/3 at best 8/2

If JG is the best option then this offensive staff and Pruitt have failed. The QB is the most important position on the team and the have done nothing to upgrade since they have been here. Seen some talent from the subs but we just do not seem to have anybody to coach the QBs up.

Who in the world thought Pruitt would be the next Saban?????

If he isn't the best option why do you think he is playing
Because he looks great at practice! Problem is he cannot duplicate it in a real game. Pruitt keeps seeing how well he does in practice mode and will not try someone else. The kid has stage fright!!!!! He will never be able to perform acceptably in real games! He really does have Pruitt fooled and Pruitt is going down with the ship as a captain should!

Still need one or more of the other guys to get reps. Alabama, Georgia and Florida have done it the last two or three years. No reason for us not to do it.

With any coach if you don't practice well you will not play. So if the other quarterbacks are better they need to show it in practice.

If he is the best option then both our recruiting and development suck.

Exactly, only at TN could JG be the “better” QB. He seems like a good young man and he can take a beating but he is far from a talented QB. If he truly is our best option at QB then a few coaches need to be terminated immediately because their high school talent evaluation skills absolutely suck. The reality is that most other teams would’ve recruited over him a long time ago or went with an FR / SO with a higher ceiling. It’s not like TN is in the running for any championship so take the extra loss or 2 and get the future QB some game time experience to make a run next year. Our players have little confidence in JG. When Maurer started last year there was a different energy in the tunnel before the games started. They were pumped. You could see it and feel it. When JG took over after Maurer’s injury, many of the players appeared deflated. JG just doesn’t have the “it” factor that gives any of TN players confidence.

I don't think either of those are true but it does make you wonder.
If you're afraid to pull a player then you suck as a coach.
If you legit have moone ready behind them then you suck as a coach

Pruitt starting to look like he's in over his head maybe

I dont think so but its getting harder to argue against it

If the OL continues to play like they did vs UGA, JG won't last the season.

Is it the backup players fault if they aren't all world practice players like JG?
At some point you have to simply give them a shot... A long shot. Last year they barely played.

Its not that we don't have another option they're going with JG because of experience, the bad thing is his experience is not very good. I feel like its time we give one of the other a shot not 2-3 series but a game and that one should be Bailey, he's the future I know they don't want him beat up when he's not physically ready but he's our best option from what I've seen
