Tim Priest was livid

I agree with much of this.

They did put the ball in Kelly's hand on the last 1st and goal series. He dropped a game winning catch that hit him in the hands. It happens....he still had a phenomenal game even though he dropped the pass that would have won the game.

Plenty of people dropped game winning catches in that game. Kelly, however, ran for almost 200 yards and nearly notched 100 receiving yards as well. So he drops the ball, so what? Go back to him. Or hey, even better, take the passing out of the equation and run the ball, run the clock, and give Florida no chance for that dumb pass at the end. I think I heard that called game management or something. Clock management? I don't know, it's all so hazy these days.

Context. The USC game and Vandy games last year along with the Appy State game.

Then you have Oklahoma the year before. And the two Florida games before this one.

He has not improved as a coach, therefore the hopelessness of the situation makes this one of the worst losses ever. Particularly when you look at what's probably ahead.

Did everyone notice the graphic and comments about UT having more comebacks from 10+ down than any other FBS school? It's hard to reconcile that stat with "he can't coach".

That argument is easily countered with why we're tgey behind in the first place.

Didn't Scott say we would run more under center? That would have been an opportune time.

Look at the context, competition, and did UT win the game?

I thought it an indictment. He coaches tight/conservative and opens it up when he must (or in mediocre bowl games).

It was several series.

1st and goal from FL one. Never under center, never run. result: INT

1st and 10 from FL 14. Never under center, one run. result: missed FG

1st and goal from FL 9. Never under center, never run. result: made FG

Three series, sixteen plays in red zone. One run.

Is that Tennessee football?

Well, if we had a running back that could average, say, 7.4 ypc, I'm sure we would have run more in the red zone.

Come on, apologists. Tell me again how stupid I am.

At this point I'd be more confident in Mr Green Jeans calling plays, and I was a full on Butch supporter but man its year 5 for crying out loud and we still make the same mistakes

Same here. Passing on the one yard line was the the final straw for me.

"At least go under center"

And when he said "damnit" after the interception

Butch may try and get Tim removed. Can't have anyone who won't carry water. Energy vampires

That won't happen. Butch tries that, and whoever still supports him drops him fast.

Yeah how did that work out last night ? I'm more of a box to wire type of guy..

Stick to sick kids, doc. You don't know nuffin bout foots-ball.

Well, by goodness

I swear to you all, I will go under center and run the ball on 1st and goal. You might even see a bootleg

You might also see a screen to slow down the LB pass rush or some quick slants. You will probably see a few deep balls just to keep the CBs from sneaking up in run support.

A little I formation on 3rd and short. You might even see a pass to a TE in that same formation. Keep that DC on his toes

You're hired.

Though I had to google some of that stuff since it has been so long since I have actually witnessed those kinds of plays.

That is not a stat to be proud of. The wins might be memorable because they're unexpected, but that is not a stat to be proud of.

3 missed field goals didn't help. We lost a game we should have won and won a game we should have lost (GT). I wish we could reverse the two outcomes.

Lol, yeah it's apparently rocket science that none of us can understand. Botch knows best and has the track record to prove it. I'm sure there's a chart somewhere to support the play calls.

The thing about arm chair coaches - had plays been called differently and failed - then the armchair coaches would be saying - why didn't they call play X which they did?

Hindsight allows 'arm chair' coaches to always win and never lose.

Arm chair coaches have no clue what the team practiced.
No, always run 1st and 6 inch in that situation. If you don't get it, we are not going to complain about that play call ever. It's about the probability of success, run is much more successful in that situation. But if you try some pass play and it's intercepted, you are going to get roasted. In a similar situation against gt, they ran it in under center(I believe) with jk diving in for the td, run they exact play again every time.

It's better than not coming back when you're 10+ down. Obviously everyone would rather never be 10+ down, but the game doesn't work that way...ask LSU?

HOW MANY CHANCES DOES BUTCH JONES GET B4 SOME OF YOU KNUCKLEHEADS realize he can't coach in BIG GAMES! He has a Central Mich mentality of coaching because at Central Mich, they would have probably been playing a school that had a QB that could not throw the ball 65 yards in the air so his 2-deep defensive wouldv worked, but he doesn't understand he is with the BIG BOYS and QBs can throw it almost 70 yards. He coaches ALWAYS to tie a game and NOT TO LOSE. He has his best CORNERBACK on offense playing receiver and he does NOT throw him 1 ball (so what is he on offense for?) Lattrell Williams who is the fastest guy on the team is NOT even in the game, hell at least use him for jet sweeps or running "go" routes. WHY is Colton JUMPER even on the field. His best 3 LBs should be on the field (Sapp, Bituli, Berry or McDowell) and hell McDowell can't get off blocks.. JUST LOOK at how many tackles Jumper missed yesterday and when he did get there, they just ran over him.

Never saw Jumper get ran over. But, don't let facts get in the way of your rant.
