Tim Hart- decommit - talking negative about coaching staff

While I agree that it's now a business, dont confuse that with a license to mislead or lure until you feel something better comes along. I'm all UT and don't know what happened here but neither does anyone on this board. It's a little too early to judge this kids remarks and label him. If he was offered a blue shirt, fine. If he was told something different early on, not ok. That would be called untrustworthy and not a good quality.

All I'm saying is there is a difference and it's too early to criticize either way.

For the record, I've been behind CBJ from Day 1. This is more of a comment on the state of CFB today and the way I would expect people to be treated.

Tell that to Christmas-Giles. Works both ways.

I understand the nature of recruiting. I'm a fan of UT and as much as I want the Top 5 class, I want to obtain it in an ethical way. I'm in sales, I've seen all the ways to skin a cat.

I just hope - in this incident - that the university that I root for was fair and honest with the kid from beginning to end....and we probably were. Just not going to take the kid to the woodshed without knowing facts. That's all.

Hopefully this doesn't hurt us with future Memphis recruits. I read part of the reason we hired Scott was to rebuild ties with Tampa after the local coaches got mad about us recruiting over Marques Ford last year. That's the downside of recruiting over a kid. Coaches hold grudges.

Players decommit from schools... why can't a coach decommit from a recruit?

Because forming a reputation as being untrustworthy will hurt in the long run. Although if you're honest about the possibility of the scholarship not being there cone Feb then you've been as up front as possible and not much else you can do.

It happens. The only thing that bothers me about it are the hypocrites on here who used to HAMMER Alabama for doing this exact same thing.

I can't imagine how painful it must be to be an in state kid and dreaming of playing for UT and being committed for 6 months to have the offer pulled if indeed that happened.

I hate to see these de commits. But I think there is a good reason for this one. Hope the kid gets what he wants now and Butch pulls in a better player in this spot.

I don't follow recruiting that deeply, but when can a player sign a LOI? Could he have done this 6 months ago and secured himself a spot?
