How many SEC players have come through MUS the past 15 years?

Butch did sign one player from MUS while at Cincinnati but it didn't go so well. Alex Dale now at MTSU.

I typically just post, and don't reply, but since you asked a valid question and it peaked my curiosity, below is the answer based on some very quick research.

A few thoughts/comments first:
1. The best ever from MUS was Tom Hutton, P, in '91. He went to Tennessee and then on to the NFL. If you are too young to remember Tom, look him up. He flipped the field of play many times for UT.

2. MUS is an all boys private school and typically graduates less than 100 boys per class. This is not a school that will produce lots of SEC talent every year. There will be 1-3, at best. However, those players will by and large be academically proficient (the school colors are Yale blue and Harvard crimson for a reason), have great fundamentals, be highly coachable, and have high school playoff/championship experience......all qualifications Butch is looking for. The trick will be to get those 1-3 away from schools like Vandy (academics) and Ole Miss (Memphis proximity). If it becomes a tradition for the best of the best of MUS to go to UT every year, other private schools in Memphis that can produce another 1-3/year will follow as well.

3. I included Tyler Horn b/c if you can go to the U, you can go to an SEC school. That was a personal recruiting choice.

4. I also included Howell (Wake) and Perry (North Carolina) as they chose academics over football. Not saying they could have been superstars in the SEC, but they could have gone.

5. You are correct, Cinci took Alex Dale in '12. Didn't work out so well. That's just recruiting.

6. Wunderlich was rated the #1 kicker and the #1 punter in the nation for the 2014 class by Kohls Kicking Camps. He originally committed to UVA and then Ole Miss flipped him. He kicked a 46 yarder against Bama in Ole Miss's win last year.

7. Only time will tell what Richmond and Hart do, but the talent is getting better and more consistent coming out of MUS over the last several years or so. The facilities at MUS are AMAZING. And MUS is playing great non-conference games against out of state teams (S.Panola for example), which gives these guys lots of exposure for recruiting purposes outside Memphis.

Anyway.....

'05 - Rob Park, P (Ole Miss) **
'07 - John Stokes, SLB (Vandy) ***
'07 - Tyler Horn , OT (Miami) **
'08 - DeAndre Jones, WLB (Vandy) ***

"I got a kick in my pedal, make my Ford move a little bit faster"!
Gotta love Jones kicking it down 40 for the solid pickup (I know he is flying). Knowing the commander in charge, he'll get upgraded to another 4 star defender by Feb.

First of all great post. Well researched and concise. I do disagree with 1-3 prospects per year from MUS as by your own list thats an average of less then one per year over the last 15 years and thats including a couple marginal players with no SEC offers other then Vandy in their worst years and they dont count :). Also safe to say that so far MUS does not produce a great deal of elite talent as I believe Richmond is only the first or second 4+ star although Horn and Still were probably better then their rating. Admittedly I have an opinion that by in large Memphis prospects are overrated and usually don't live up to expectations. My personal opinion really doesn't matter and actually you may make me rethink it a little anyway. I asked a question and you certainly answered. Thank you and again great post.
