I can see what you're saying, but Arkansas was down 4 scores at one time. When you're trying to come back from that deficit, your chances of long passes increase since you don't have time to waste and you're slinging it all over the field. I guarantee you Wilson has only one 400+ yard game this year left in him because i don't see Arkansas falling behind that far for the rest of the year. I think panic mode set in is all that was about, nothing else.

I'm simply saying that, at this point, most if not all collegiate analysts are going to say that Wilson is better because he had a better game against TAMU than Bray had against Florida. Bray had a better game against Florida (individually) than the stats indicate and I said that in my post. That will not be seen by casual observers though.

Mitigating factors are of no concern to most analysts as they look at a statistical performance. They aren't breaking down each QB play-by-play like McShay does. They look at numbers and draw a quick conclusion and add weight based on what the QBs team is ranked, who they played and how the QB did. Most don't look deeper.


EDIT: Simply put I'm not saying its right, but Brando looking at a game-by-game basis and forming an opinion is justified. Bray has yet to have a lights out performance against a legit (UNC and Florida are really the only 2 considerable here) opponent. As I also said, all criticisms will be out the door if he's 60%+, 300 yards, and has at least a 2-1 TD/INT ratio against LSU and Bama and has big games against everyone else.

I can see Tyler Wilson being considered as having proven more than Bray, but I don't see Murray being better. I'm certain Bray would have engineered at least 3 scoring drives against a team like UCF, had Tennessee faced them in the Liberty Bowl.

Murray managed 198 yards, 2 picks and zero touchdowns against UCF. Even with Florida manhandling UT up front...bad snaps...the shock of Justin Hunter being injured...Tyler Bray threw for nearly 300 yards and put 23 points on the board in The Swamp. I would take Bray over Murray, any day.

But, if it must be done then Wilson gets the early nod. Things will be abundantly clear in November.

I'm fine with the pundits lauding Murray and Wilson, but to say that those are the top 2 and no one else is really in the conversation is shortsighted. He can make all the throws, he gets rid of the ball, and unlike the others he does NOT have the benefit of a running game to give him play action, and single coverage. Bray should at least be in the conversation for best in SEC.

There is no substance in that response from Brando. The logic is...well...not there. He fails to recognize that you are in fact charging him with hypeing Murray too fast.

I'm watching the Fox Sports South recast of MS State vs. Georgia and I think the media is all over Murray because his mechanics look to be more NFL ready. By that I mean, they think Murray is going to be a good NFL style QB. They start hyping him now so when/if he does develop into a serviceable NFL QB they are in effect validated. Which leads to them spewing more senseless information to the droves of fans, such as ourselves, who either eat it up or ***** about it on forums like this.

I hope our defense doesn't allow the big plays on Saturday, if so I like our chances against Georgia. I will enjoy nothing more than for Bray (and Dooley for that matter) to get his first big win.

This team is a ticking time bomb about to explode for a big win. I pray it comes sooner rather than later.

Glad someone else can appreciate the irony as well. I actually like Brando, and wasn't trying to beat a homer-drum for Bray, he [Bray] does have a lot still to prove. I just wanted to have an honest dialogue about what prompts hype for one QB, over a clearly similarly matched and talented QB for another team. Brando obviously either didn't have an answer (ding, ding, ding!) or misunderstood the tenor of my comments.

It's obvious that the hype goes to the QB on the better, or perceived to be better team. I honestly completely understand it too. I just wanted that corndog smelling, poor man's Tony Barnhart to admit it.
