When banks took over, we were ranked 90th in the country in scoring defense. He got better every year despite the uptempo offense (aka more opportunities for the opponent to score). We were ranked 7th in the country in scoring defense last year. Last game was painful but chill before we wind up with another Sunseri type hire. The man has done an excellent job considering where he started and the injuries. It's still very early in the season.

He took over the 90th and currently has the 105th against 2 patsys and 1 good team with a QB making his first road start? Not something to brag about getting paid well over a million per.

Two yrs ago everyone wanted to fire Banks, then last yr he was a great DC, now he is back on the firing list because, thru no fault of his own, he was forced to play inexperienced DB's that GA's very experience receivers took advantage of. He should be tarred and feathered before firing him for letting this happen.

Passing Yards Allowed, UT IS 107th with only one SEC game played! I am sure Mateer (OU), Green (Ark), and Simpson (Bama) are licking their chops to pass into UT's secondary that you think is so great! Also, don't be surprised when UAB's QB throws for about 250+, possibly 300+ this Saturday!

Yes, UT is down two CBs. But, as many secondary guys as UT has recruited the last 2-3 years. There should be some better than average guys as back ups. Ty Redmond isn't one of them. Yet, Banks / Martinez played him pretty much the entire game while he continued to look like a tiger chasing a cheetah! I am not saying he will not get better. But, why leave a freshman out there to continue to get beat like he stole something? Give someone else a chance! It isn't working! That tells me all I need to know about Banks / Martinez! They don't adapt and change! They stick with what ISN'T WORKING!

You can't be scared. You had a couple of TOs. Talk to the OL and tell them not to move until the ball is snapped! All they had to do was block long enough for JA to get to the center of the field near the line of scrimmage! Then, it is a straight on kick that would have been made!

No it hasn’t. The CBs were a team strength last year. If you don’t know that, you don’t have any business calling anyone a moron (of course, people who call others morons for disagreeing are ironic anyway).

And since you mention “secondary” instead of Corners, I’m guessing you think he also coaches safeties. While calling others morons.

Martinez is a fantastic CB coach. He is coaching without his two starting outside CBs right now. That matters.

We aren't getting an elite DC from a major program to come work for Heupel. Nobody wants to have their defense on the field as much as it's gonna be here. Upgrade the talent is the best option.

We are 3 games into the season missing are 2 starting corners and if I remember right two starting defensive tackles last game. Banks has several years of improving the team each year in his resume and I'm not even going to say 3 bad games but 3 games into the current season we aren't ranked well. I'm not in panic mode yet.

Now he has one bad game with both starting corners out and he's horrible? Maybe better decisions could have been made with personnel? The guy has improved us since he's been here for several years. You are right. He has earned SOME wiggle room. If the secondary doesn't improve and continues to allow average SEC QBs to look like Heisman candidates, his wiggle room depletes quickly! Banks did improve the D. But, you have to have an ELITE DC to go along with Heupels offense to have a chance to win the SEC and a NC in the next 5 years. Banks still hasn't proved to be ELITE due to him giving up chunks of big plays against teams with very good QBs! Banks' D hasn't stopped or hardly slowed down any ELITE QB since he has been at UT!!!!
