Still think 05 was the best in the series.

08 was the last one with any significant changes / improvement, it just gets stale fast. The challenges and building your skills are fun, but once you finish that it sucks. I'll stick with this years just to throw in and play 9 now and then.

was 05 the one with a ridiculous amount of aces?

I believe so, I get 05 and 06 mixed up but I think 05 was the one with the unlockable celeb characters. It was pretty unrealistic when you started maxing out on attributes .

That's why I think I liked it.

On one hand I've always wished augusta was on there. On the other hand, I think it will take some of the mistique away from the sacred grounds.

On a side note....

This proves that everyone is hurting in this economy IMO. Even Augusta needs money... They did it after sex gate and his worst year ever. I thought it would eventually make it, but I'm shocked it was '12.

If you would have actually read the story that was linked, then you would have seen that 100% of the proceeds that Augusta National will receive will be going to charity. Over the last 13 years, Augusta National has given away more than $42 million to charities. Even Augusta needs money...I think not.

Cool deal. Been a long time since it appeared in a game.

Looking forward to playing it a few times. Will make for a good rental.

Augusta doesn't need any money from a video game.

I was fairly certain it was in a really old game; one of the first golf games. Talking before Mean 18.

But, from reading today, it appears to have only appeared in Japanese golf games.

Hell, you're probably the source of the rumor that I had heard about it. I had always thought that I had read somewhere that Augusta National had never licensed it for a game, but I know that I heard somewhere on line that it once appeared on a game ages ago.

In Tiger 2000 i think for the pc there was a course architect that come with the game and it was built rather nicely. This is big though love playing Amen Corner just wish the game didnt get so stail quickily.

I actually did read the story... Thanks for the concern. :hi:

Any charity they give is still money out of their pocket, and it still benefits them (huge tax write-off). I don't care who you are in the US and/or other parts of the world. Money isn't as good as it was four or five years. Augusta is coming out ahead or they wouldn't have donw it.

+1

Thinking Augusta is doing this solely out of the goodness in their hearts, you might be disappointed. They are financially benefiting from this in one way or another.

So I guess this is their first official release then? Were all others user created?

I think it's telling that Eldrick isn't on the cover. My guess is if this version doesn't sell well, the Tiger Woods name will be dropped from it.
