Tiffany's Thread (updates and prayers, and a place where she can smack Joe in public when he needs it :)

So, a lot sooner than “a month or two”, it sounds like?
She'll be there up to about 4 months. I'll be back, but may be back and forth depending on how she's doing. Even if I'm here I'll probably forget to pay something though, so we're going to try to do a few things in advance 🤣

Trying to get things together that we think the girls will need, and making a list of what to get. Food of course 🤣, medicine for any occasion, garbage bags, laundry detergent. They'll have people taking turns being with them, but still trying to prepare for anything basic. This may happen fairly quickly, they're probably going to start the flushing her stoma her, so we'll be ahead when we get there. Dr from there called her today, and wanted her Drs number here, so he could work with them to get things started. Lot to get together, plus trying to plan for getting stuff out there, like Uber, instacart, etc. Gonna try to overpay utilities, so I won't have to worry about it. By worrying about it, I mean forget, cause I'll definitely forget 🤣
Boyfriend repellent?

Ok, right. I thought you had said that it would be a month or two at home, and then they wanted here there for a month , and THEN the transplant, and then three months.

I would have had 0 fingernails left after all that!

It's pretty stressful, not going to lie. It's probably silly to some, but we just want to not have to have them needing something. Like if they get a cold, we bought more cold medicine. If they get a cut, more bandaids and triple antibiotic. Basic household stuff, make sure things like that are here. We've got stuff, and probably overthinking it, but just rather have too much, than not enough.

In an emergency, I will make a toilet paper run. You know how to reach me. ;)

Just remember, if you're gone that long, when you get back, it'll be their house not yours ;).... toilet paper will roll the wrong way, peanut butter will be in the wrong place......

Pourin hamburger grease down the sink drain....
All dem Clorox wipes flushed....
A clogged septic tank....
List goes on

All da tires will be bald, brakes wore out, yard won't have been mowed in 2 months.....
Of course you could be in for a real surprise.... my wife is amazed that all of our children have very well kept homes, even while in college. They could pick up a sock, or put up a loaf of bread in our house, but everything is in place in theirs.

No horror stories, with my prior job, I was in LA at least once a month for 10 years so I know the area where the hospital is.
What's your opinion on the safety of the area? Not knowing it, I'm kinda worried about leaving her and her sister.

The medical complex is fine. The neighborhood surrounding it is working class and heavily Hispanic. You can get get some good, authentic food here. You aren't going to confuse this area for Beverly Hills but it's much nicer than the areas that surround the actual USC college campus. I never felt unsafe during the day but I wouldn't go walking alone at midnight either.

That's kinda the summary I get from reading when I've googled it. She won't be leaving the area of the hospital when I'm gone anyway. I'll likely have to venture out for supplies at some point, but my hillbilly accent will probably scare any wrong doers away 🤣

If you see Burrito/Taco joints that are holes in the wall, chances are they are great.
