LMAO! People like him are the reason teachers aren't allowed to spank any more.

Woww! Seriously bro this is football. Not that big of a deal. Evidently you didn't play football growing up otherwise you would know that alll coaches do this. I can't tell you how many times my helmet was slapped and my facemask grabbed with my head being shook and that's just highschool. Not a big deal at all bro.

okay let me get this straight, he worked under saban for 6 years, was his recruiting coordinator during the midst of back to back #1 recruiting classes, was an assistant on his national champion lsu squad, and you don't think he has anything to sell recruits? You're looking wayy too much at the 17-20. He was at louisiana tech for christ's sake, in the middle of some no-name bumfuk town in louisiana, at a school who failed to fill half the stands at football games, had a rough first year, but lead his team to a bowl game and won it in his second year, and then had an injury plagued team this past year that obviously helped in the team's results. Just give the guy a chance, focus on the positives, or else you're in for a miserable ride.

this!!!!!!!!

7 years...Good post and ignore the negaturds. This guy is a great hire.

Agree he is a good hire, but the recruits follow Saban not his assistants. It wasn't because of DD that LSU had a #1 class. Last year Lance T. made the remark that he would put a barrier around Tn. and Saban would get no more recruits, and the first recruit Alabama got after that statement was from Memphis.
TN. is not known as a very rich area for HS recruits anyway, so it will take a good coach to keep the few in state.

If you slap me..your getting knocked on your a$$. There is no place for that. B1tch-slapping a player, who would get kicked off the team if he punched you back, ain't gonna get it hear.

Funny how peoples perspective changes when it's their coach. It was ok for Kiffin to act like a punk, as long as he is our coach. Funny how many people who LOVED his teenage Punk antics, are hating him for it now...now that it's bitten them in the bum.

I seen the clip and it looked nothing more than a ..."Wake up son!" or "What were you thinking" kinda thing, nothing more nothing less. Let it go, its not a Woody Hayes moment to say the least.

I don't see how anyone could even find anything wrong with him slapping his players helmet. I know when I was playing I always liked a coach that was willing to yell and get in my face.

Tenn if you don't like that kind of coaching you could always go be a Dallas Cowboy fan, Wade Phillips is the perfect guy for you. His idea of motivation is promising to take his team out for milkshakes if they win the game.

Don't coaches also slap helmets sometimes when a player does good? Sorry, I don't know the circumstances around the helmet slapping incident. You know, I remember when Lou Holtz was coaching ND, he walked out on the field after a play and dragged a guy back to the sidelines by his facemask and proceeded to chew his butt. I don't think it hurt anything but his feelings. Bet he was more focused going forward, though.

If I could please borrow a helmet, I'd like to slap around a few people I know a bit.

And from Bear's book...

"People think I'm the greatest damn coach in the world," said the great Bear Bryant, "but Neyland taught me everything I know."

The Bear coached against Bob Neyland's Tennessee teams seven times and never beat him. "I never beat him," he said, "but I learned a lot from playing him." I'm just glad the old guy decided to retire".

Neyland left coaching twice to fight wars!

Love the quote. I've never heard it before. Bryant was at UK each of the 7 years that they coached against each other. Gen. Neyland retired after '52, & Bryant's first season at Alabama was '58. I wish Neyland had a longer career. He won 82.9% of his games. Amazing.

Dude, I was talking about TENNaciousUTfan.

FWIW, I never played but I have two son's that play youth football and would have no problem if their coach felt the need to get their attention by smacking them in the helmet.

Y'know, I've never met a jerk Bama fan. (I mean, this may be because I'm young) But whether it's online threads, fans that I've chatted with after games, or even a couple of my co-workers, I've never met a jerk Bama fan.

Florida fans, however... Can't stand 'em.

:Bbiteme: I've said it before , and I'll have to say it again...there's a bunch of idiots like yourself on this board who think they're running something around here. Like everyone has to abide by your rules and adhere to your perspective or else...GTFOH! You ain't running shiite. You're just another schmuck with an opinion...just like the rest of us.

Feel free to climb back upon your little play pony/high horse and pretend to be the board Ranger...arresting the bad guys.

I'm glad you recognize your place. I was beginning to think you were just another loud mouthed dolt.

And Tn. just hired one of his assistants, and tried to hire another. You are praising one of his other assistants and hoping he will stay there. Georgia just offered to double Kirby Smart's salary of 360 thousand if he would come there. He turned them down (720 thousand). You would love to have someone like Saban, do you even realize what he has done in 3 years. Saban didn't block those kicks, he's way too short.:)

For the life of me I can't figure out why most Vol fans were so high on Kiffin to start with. He was and is a whiny punk. And a Left Coast one at that.
