Tidesfan.com...they're impressed

That was no "Love Tap"...it was nothing short of a ***** slap...and the way I look at it, the player should have every right to slap right back.

B!tch-slapping someone ain't OK under any circumstance...period. Just wait...if he does that to one of our players on camera...it won't be pretty for DD. He will catch hell and will get fired over it. No reason he can't get his point across without striking a player.
I'm just amazed at the level of hypocricy going on here...giving a pass just be cause you want to "get behind the coach."

I have to get behind him...Hamilton thrust this no-name/ no-record/no-resume coach on us, and I have to hope for the best...but at the end of the day,
Hamilton was tasked to hire a coach EVERY fan could get behind and be excited about. There were plenty of them out there. Nevertheless, I would say the same thing about any coach slapping one of our players in the face/helmet like that. Totally uncalled for...and I was really surprised to see that clip. Don't ever recall Fulmer or Majors busting the player in the face like that.

First, you must not have played any contact sports growing up.

Second, he's wearing a helmet you giant pussy.

I liked the SEC world when everyone hated us far more than all this new found respect... It may be that these others teams in the SEC think that we are slipping back into mediocrity again..... It seems to me that history teaches when other teams speak so well of us it usually means they think they can beat us

I'm a Bama alum who lives in the TriCities, with a son who is a student at UT and another one who will start there in the fall.

Count me among the Bama faithful who are quite impressed with the hire of CDD. He seems to be the anti Kiffin and I believe he will do a great job at UT.

If you haven't heard of her yet, you will...Barbara Dooley, CDD's mom, is a TRIP. She is on Paul Finebaum's radio show weekly and she is crazy. You'll love her. Vince Dooley said today that he'll quietly pull for the Vols, but won't wear orange. He said Barbara will be decked out in orange and quite verbal in her support of the Vols.

Congrats on a good hire and for someone who realizes the traditions of great southern football are better than West Coast SEC wannabes.

I'll be cheering for you guys to win every game but one.

I must say, I've always thought fans who called Lane Kiffin - "Lame Kitten" are dbags. It's not even clever. I now hate the tool and I am embarrassed that some of our fan base has decided to use the term now as well. It's pathetic. Worst nickname and insult ever. Might as well call him a doodyhead.

Tell you what...this CDD is a firey one. I like that intensity and anyone that is upset over a slap in the helmet is weak weak weak.

I hope CDD delivers. I really really really hope!!!!

Frankly guys and not to flame anyone, but any "outsiders" comments cant win here...If we compliment you on your new coach and say we think he will do a good job, you say its because we know we can "roll over him" .....

If we laugh we get ripped too...barn fans laughed when they hired Chizik...he is doing well...Cant expect DD to have hung the moon at LaTech....

DD is a class guy who I believe will be very successful...Take if for what its worth....But it may be that perhaps a lot of Bama fans like me would like to see the rivalry back to one of respect...anyway..good luck guys...

They will say nice things about the hire they have beaten us the last 3 years and they think it will continue with this hire, they are laughing behind our backs, and the true alabama fans will let you know all they think about the hire and it is not what i like to hear. Kiffin has gotten us in this mess and yes i believed every word he spoke i should have known better and deep down i did i just did not want to speak what i thought of him and his ways. GO VOLS, we have lots of work to do and i will be honest it is going to take a long time to be where we would like to be, DOOLEY is not nick saban trust me on that, i will give him a chance and i will give him time but he better beat florida or alabama soon or he will not be around long, i hope he can save some recuits and he better beat vandy and ky for sure the next 3 years. GO VOLS !!!!!

And from Bear's book...

"People think I'm the greatest damn coach in the world," said the great Bear Bryant, "but Neyland taught me everything I know."

The Bear coached against Bob Neyland's Tennessee teams seven times and never beat him. "I never beat him," he said, "but I learned a lot from playing him." I'm just glad the old guy decided to retire".

Neyland left coaching twice to fight wars!

Thanks, I'm glad he did, and I can see you are well read.

That's what I'm thinking...regardless of whether we "get behind him"...Dooley has N-O-T-H-I-N-G....to sell recruits ATM. To add insult to injury, he's already brought two of his former staff members with him. I understand him wanting coaches he's familiar with, but damn...that kills our recruiting class from the word "Go."

He has to understand, irregardless of his confidence in a given coaches ability, and contrary to his comments about not having an all-star staff, his only saving grace in this situation would be to refrain from hiring his buddies and open the checkbook for the best assistant coaches we can get in here. recruits will continue to bail if he fills the staff full of LT coaches...and he makes his job 10 times harder than it already is.

One thing Kiffin did do is give this class a lot of momentum. His leaving hurt, but bringing in Mid Major assistants will drive a dagger in the chest of this recruiting class. He had better swing for the fences with the rest of the hires, or his goose is cooked (recruiting wise) before he has a chance to coach a single player.

Did I mention he has nothing to sell?

Okay let me get this straight, he worked under saban for 6 years, was his recruiting coordinator during the midst of back to back #1 recruiting classes, was an assistant on his National Champion LSU squad, and you don't think he has anything to sell recruits? You're looking wayy too much at the 17-20. He was at Louisiana tech for christ's sake, in the middle of some no-name bumfuk town in louisiana, at a school who failed to fill half the stands at football games, had a rough first year, but lead his team to a bowl game and WON it in his second year, and then had an injury plagued team this past year that obviously helped in the team's results. Just give the guy a chance, focus on the positives, or else you're in for a miserable ride.

If you were to check out some of the threads on the Bama boards, you'd see that we are being sincere. I for one have more concern in playing a Tn team led by DD than one led by LK.
