Tidbits from Chaney

I just find it odd for Chaney to talk like that to a recruit and a fan. However, I do not know the OP and he may be more than that. I just find it all odd and far fetched.

just a thought.

he really doesn't indicate the discussion took place in front of the commit. The commit may know because it is on here and other boards but I didn't take it that it was said in front of the recruit.

Might have been one on one conversation with the OP. Possible...

Fair comment, however with as candid as Dooley is with his coaches and himself about what goes on with the team. The reality of this conversation actually taking place is slim to none.

How does the OP have the ability to sit one on one with Chaney? Anybody know the answer to this?

This question is to the OP.

What's you're link to Chaney that you could have a talk with him. You can be semi-vague and I won't nuke you as a liar. Just something brief like I am part of the staff or I know the staff or I live here and know people. Just something.

Poole would have been better this year had he got more touches and focus last year. Unfortunately that focus went to a guy who quit the team and another guy who is not as good as Poole.

Not really. It's not like he started out slow and then picked it up as the year went on.

Unless he is a parent/relative of the recruit Chaney was visiting, he doesn't have the ability.

I won't give specifics and it was probably best if he had not stated the circumstances, but with the last staff I had an opportunity to go to a dinner with a prospect and coach that I was not a relative of. I couldn't show up but had opportunity.

it is very possible to be in those situations. Not a good idea to speak about them in public though, IMO.

Agree 100%.

Do you mind me asking how you were able to get that opportunity?

Malik Jackson could be ALL SEC at DE, not tackle.
Walker will be lucky to make a practice squad IMO.
Lathers, premature starter is a nice way of saying he isnt good enough.
Waggner may run a 4.9 forty
Brewer has to learn how to tackle and play safety.
Smith and Miller can be good just need time, weren't ready this year.
Teague has talent but has a lot to learn also.
Gordon is the biggest question mark, who knows?
Been saying all along that Poole was average at best, Neal just doesnt seem to have the mentality to be good enough, we need RB's who think no one can stop them. An average RB who thinks that way can become a beast.

JMO.

We'll see about Walker, won't we KingtUT??? Amazing!!!

Wow and to think we had a 1000 yard rusher who stinks. Can't wait till we get a legit sec calibur running back

I agree, Im more then a bit surprised about the Poole comments, the guy played behind a bad o-line, a bad qb the first 7 1/2 games and once Bray started playing his carries dropped off big time. Everyone makes Lattimore out to be so great and Pooles numbers were comparable and USCe had a far better offense.

As I read the original post, it appeared that Chaney was critical of the abiity of the running back to get touchdowns when they are there to be had. Dooley raised this point also in one of his post-game press conferences and was referring to the lack of break-away speed of the current running backs.

The prototypical running back in my view was always Jamal Lewis. He would run someone over and then sprint for a touchdown with good speed. Poole has the first talent, Oku may have the second, but none have both. That seemed to me what the staff was critical about.
