I've wondered about this awhile so I'm gonna ask,do these ticket scalpers at Tennessee games buy their tickets from UT's ticket office and then try to sell them at a profit or do they buy them from fans not going to the game and then try to sell them at a profit?Since most games are not soldout, seems these scalpers get stuck with alot of unused tickets and they lose money.

In the 'old' days they bought from fans cheap and tried to turn a profit. But we were pretty good then and people wanted tickets.

I have seen alot of them walking around with season ticket holders tickets this year. But also some with the Uttix.com tickets. Id say that they have either lost money or broke even this year.

For the GA game, some of them were out there wanting $100 and more. I said you're crazy; we're not there yet, this isn't the '90s.

I actually saw an older gentleman standing next to me at the Vol Walk pay that price to a scalper for four tickets to that very game. Just had to shake my head.

The tickets come from various sources. They try to make a buck but it isn't an easy business right now.

Since you can sell the tickets online (thus voiding the physical ticket) you are asking to get ripped off if you buy from a scalper and not from a guaranteed secondary broker.

My wife was trying to get scalpers tickets for the ga game even after the the first quarter was almost over. Those clowns were still trying to get 80 bones a ticket. Most of which were nosebleed. I thought one guy was gonna stab me when I offered him 60 a ticket about 30 min before kickoff. I just told him good luck getting a hundred a ticket from a vol fan and better hope a desperate ga fan came by.

A friend got 4 tickets on the 30 for the LSU game for $50, total. A good deal but not the norm...

Most people I know in Alabama buy the season tickets and they may lose money on the cupcake games but games like LSU they'll get well over $1,000 for a pair. Same for Auburn, NC game tickets were like $2,500.

in most cases, tickets are available way below face from regular fans in tailgate areas, bars, hotels, parking lots, etc. and are better seats than the tickets the street hustlers are selling.
