I'm making the trip up to Knox for the Bama game this weekend and I'm wondering about tickets.

In past years I've gone up to several games and have always easily found tickets for below face value, because I've waited til closer to when the game started.

However, this year my parents went up and decided to buy tickets on the street for the first time (because I had done it so many times), and they said there were just no tickets on the street at all. They couldn't get in the game (the first game of the year). They said they walked away with no tickets along with hundreds of other fans. Everyone they talked to said they had never seen anything like it.

I did some research and apparently this happened because of season ticket holders weren't buying their tickets, so no one was selling. There were just a ton of tickets for face in the box office which you had to wait in line for hours for, or you could buy from scalper way above face value even after the game had started.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the situation for this weekends game will be any different...

I can get a guest ticket for face ($70) right now.... but I'm wondering if I could find one cheaper on the street before gametime (even if I'm in the nosebleeds). I just don't wanna end up like my parents and not get into the game without spending over $100.

Any help would be great

If you pay more than $20 for a ticket, you got ripped off. You should be able to get one for less. Just be patient. Walk up and down in front of the stadium a little before kickoff for the best deals. I have been given free tickets there on several occassions.

Like this season was expected, hope for the best but expect the worst. They were going for over $100 a piece at the UT-Martin game after kickoff. I got 2 for $100 about 5 minutes into the 1st qtr. U just never know.

Exactly, this is my concern.... This is the only game I know about from this year. But if all the games this season have been like this one, I figure I should go ahead and take my guest ticket for face.

For those of you that are saying I can find them on the street for super cheap.... is that based on this year? or previous seasons?

From everyone I have talked to, finding tickets for cheap on the street have been vastly different from previous years.

If u can find really good seats at face I would do that. If u hold out for scalped tickets don't wait until the last minute to start looking.

I think the reason ticket prices have been so crazy this year is b/c everyone has said just come without tickets you'll get them for cheap and everyone came and they were 100 each right before kickoff at Florida I can think everyone was afraid of not finding tickets so no one showed up and tickets were 20 each. I think its always best for games like this to have them ahead of time b/c you never know what will happen especially since the ticket office doesn't have any.

WHAT? The scalpers back on the strip, who are notoriously more expensive than down in front of the stadium, were asking about $100-$125 3 hours before kickoff. We picked up 3 tickets for $50 each an hour or so prior to kickoff with little trouble. The Oregon game was even worse. Two guys were basically begging me and my friend to buy their tickets for $20, and another guy just wanted $5 a piece for his.

What has been said about the UT-Martin game is true though. There were almost no tix for sale on the street that day. I think it was simply because so many went unsold prior to gameday. They were no problem to get from the ticket office, but you had to wait in line. It wasn't "hours" as the OP said, but more like 30-45 minutes.

Remember that Bama fans are crazy enough to pay any price for scalped tickets. That is your competition. Pay face value and be done with it. You really don't want to rip off a fellow fan.

If you don't confine yourself to looking for tickets in the vicinity of the stadium you can find them easily. Depends on whether you enjoy walking over the campus past all the tailgates. There are plenty of extras at the tailgates early....be a good Vol fan, walk around and let the people at the tailgates know what you want...you are who they want to sell their extras to. I always loved doing it and never failed to find any amount of tickets....also got to meet everyone and soak in the tailgating atmosphere. Good exercise and Tennessee football Saturday. It was always a perfect day to me.

Yea I couldn't find tickets at ut Martin game but as season went on seems like more tickets are showing up. My uncle an his two kids are coming up for their first TN ballgame so I hope they find tickets. can't ask for a better game even if we are in a rebuilding year.

If you tell em your from Canada someone here will give you free tickets. If your from OK....don't say a word.

tickets will be below face---work the tailgate areas, not the strip where the hustlers hang out.

I am looking at some tickets in section z12 row 5...is this visitor section???

If it's not in it, it is dang near. But I am afraid there is going to be enough Crimson in there with us this weekend, all sections will have lots of bammer fans in them!

I repeat. There will be plenty of tickets at and below face for the game. If anyone buys two tickets for $227 they will get what they deserve, screwed.

The University of Tennessee is expecting a sellout crowd for Saturday’s game at Neyland Stadium against the University of Alabama, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. With this in mind, there is a high likelihood that counterfeit tickets will be sold by a variety of unauthorized sources both outside at Neyland Stadium on gameday and in the days leading up to the game.

The UT athletics ticket office reminds fans about the dangers of purchasing tickets from an unauthorized source, which could lead to some fans being defrauded. Anyone attempting to enter Neyland Stadium with a counterfeit ticket will be denied admission, and anyone discovered inside the stadium in possession of a counterfeit ticket will be ejected.

“Fans should understand that purchasing a ticket from unauthorized sources or random individuals carries significant risk,” said Joe Arnone, associate athletics director for ticket operations. “The only authorized outlets for Saturday’s game are the University of Tennessee and the University of Alabama.”

Tickets remaining for Saturday’s game are all standing room only and can be purchased by calling the UT athletics ticket office at (865) 656-1200 or 800-332-8657 (VOLS). If tickets are available on gameday, those will be on sale at the Gate 21 Ticket Office, which opens at 3 p.m.

Are you saying that there's a possibility that a ticket bought on the street could be a fake? :eek:hmy: Say it ain't so, Virginia.

I'm going up tomorrow to buy a ticket as well. Should I hang out around the outside of stadium before kickoff to get the best deal?
