In reading Jaden Springer's explanation of his decision to attend Tennessee, what stands out as a difference maker, is the relationship that Rick Barnes has cultivated over the span of the last 3 years with him. Barnes got in on the ground floor with the young man and established a foundation of trust through honesty and consistency.Maybe you are correct but I refuse to believe that any of our class was bought
The ncaa penalties aren’t the deterrent going to jail is
I've researched this, and truthfully, I think Wade is apparently getting away with blatant player buying. The info I found basically says that, in time, LSU might get into trouble. If anyone has any info, please share that.I wouldn't consider LSU a blue-blood in BB. Does anybody know how in the world that slimy Will Wade got away with the obvious cheating that was recorded? Or is that still pending?
The big difference with this latest scandal in college basketball involving an FBI sting, which is what I think BruinVol was referencing, is that apparel company representatives were working in concert with college coaches to funnel money to the families of prospects. There has always been a problem with boosters who were affiliated directly with universities handing out improper benefits, but these FBI wiretaps detail a new form of corruption that will be harder to detect and to root out. As a fan of college basketball, in general, I don't care as much about these college basketball programs getting hit hard by the NCAA Committee on Infractions, as I do about getting these apparel companies out of the recruiting process. That is what could eventually ruin the game.Let me ask you guys this: Is it really cheating if everyone is buying players? Or is buying players just the way business is done and you must do that to have a level playing field?
Every major university has paid players for decades. This goes back a long ways and will always be a part of college athletics. These little sweeps/investigations happen every now and then, a few names are taken down from this, but largely nothing changes except how the money is getting to the players.
Some schools/coaches are more brazen about it than others, but it's happening everywhere. Anybody that thinks their school is different or that their program isn't paying players also believes in the tooth fairy and Santa coming down the chimney every Christmas.
Most chimneys are too small and many houses don't even have them. Santa has become a master locksmith. and I seen the tooth fairy. It she who told me Barnes don't cheat.Let me ask you guys this: Is it really cheating if everyone is buying players? The four that just went pro were paid too. Here is how it works. Pay three star players to be good people, say they like the coach and to become NBA players so you can pay the 5stars once they see... ok hopefully if you are reading this you get the point... NOT on any of this UT and paying crap. Barnes and company have earner their stripes. In reading Jaden Springer's explanation of his decision to attend Tennessee, what stands out as a difference maker, is the relationship that Rick Barnes has cultivated over the span of the last 3 years with him. I have been seeing a few "Tenne$$ee" references on message boards today concerning Springer's commitment and that is pure jealousy... and frankly, comical. Nobody was doing that when Barnes wasn't signing any top 100 players in his first 3 classes. It was predictable that our recruiting would really start to take off once we made a Sweet 16 under Barnes, and it has... there is no way Barnes is cheating.
