I am sorry, I must have missed something. I thought we moved our game to Thursday to get attention to the program. I just noticed SCjr. and Vandy are playing Thursday also in Nashville. That is a conference game and they are on ESPN and we are on SEC network. That is two big recruiting areas for us. That just not seem worth it. plus I live in NC and NC state is playing also on espn3

SCjr vs Vandy could be on ABC Thursday night and still nobody is going to watch it until our game is over.

Yeah competing with Vandy-SC for an audience will be tough.

If it's for publicity, I don't see why we wouldn't play the game Saturday, all we would have to compete with is

Oklahoma-Houston
LSU-Wisconsin
Georgia-NC
Texas AM-UCLA
Mizzou-West Virginia
Bama-USC
Clemson-Auburn

The Vandy-South Carolina game is perfect for those people that like 6-3 scores.

Vandy-South Carolina is going to be such a mess and some truly sloppy football.

Our game starts 30 minutes before theirs, we are the only Top 10 team playing that night, haters are going to watch us hoping for an Appy-State/Michigan repeat, and skeptics are going to want to see if the hype is real.

There is a lot more intrigue in our game. People will watch.

Moving to Thursday is still better for us as week 1 is absolutely loaded with great games on Saturday. Also, this gives us a few extra days to prepare for Virginia Tech.

I'm extremely mad I have to miss the season opener for the first time in many years because of work, but I guess the silver lining is I can now watch all of the huge Saturday slate of games without worrying about missing the Vols.

I had plans attend, as well, but I can't take off this Thursday to drive to Knoxville.

I think we moved the game to Thursday because TV asked us to and we didn't refuse the request.

I am going to get to escape this prison otherwise known as Alabama on Wednesday for some blessed days in God's Country. Go Big Orange! Look out Knoxville - The Wildman is returning to the Hill.

Also gives us extra time to rest and prepare for VT.

Edit: Seems like I remember hearing the TV folks wanted to move that game to Sunday but Butch said no way. He didn't want a short week before VT was the reason given.

Maybe we should've played on Monday. Surely our game vs a team 2 years removed from FCS would be more attractive than that crummy Ole Miss vs FSU.

The only thing I see about the Vandy, South Carolina game is that the winner will be the leader in the SEC. So if everyone else quits, they will become SEC Champs. OR would that be chumps as in muschump?

ESPN asked us to move and we agreed. I'm still pissed at ESPN for 2014. They asked us to move the Utah State game to Sunday and we agreed since they promised us a night game for UF. Well 4 weeks later and they go back on their word and give UF a noon kick. The crowd wasn't in the game at all when it started. The student section was empty enough that I was able to stand there and no one cared.

Moving the game up created some problems for those planning to attend the game, hope y'all got 'em worked out. That said the change has more pros vs.cons for many reasons to numerous to mention.

You think we cover the spread in this game?

Id like to say yes but I believe they wont. Tennessee is traditionally a slow starter and App has Taylor Lamb at QB and Marcus Cox at RB. I read he is the first player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. The front 5 isn't that bad either. Are they TN caliber; no but they are decent. At this point its all speculation how good we are. Im looking forward to seeing them on the field and then we will have a better idea.
