Hopefully I’m not double posting here, but I’ve been lurking around here for years and finally I feel like I have something to add to the board.
I work in downtown Charlotte, so I was fortunate enough to watch the end of the UNC and all of UT’s practices.
For all of the UNC practice the lower bowl was completely full. Fans in baby blue were ooh-ing and ah-ing with every dunk/3 point shot. It reminded me of NBA all-star weekend. Coach Roy was gabbing away with the ESPN crew on the sidelines and the 15 minutes of practice I saw were completely unorganized. Nothing but show boating. I guess that’s what you can do when you are the #1 overall seed.

Then UT hit the floor. I was looking for Lofton and he looked completely normal. They stretched for about 10 minutes, and drilled for the next 40 minutes. I would say there were around 300 orange shirts in the crowd. Tennessee looked pretty serious. Lofton was draining most everything he took and was moving very well. I was very impressed with the 2 ball dribble drill. Chris and J. Smith look to have the best hands on the team. Brian Williams dunks like it’s his business. T. Smith also had some high flying oops. Jordan looks rattled. He just doesn’t look like he has any confidence any more. Wayne, Duke, JP and rest all looked solid. Hopefully we play tonight like we practiced yesterday.

They have open practices? Do they still have any closed practices? They were mostly closed when I worked the tournament in New Orleans in 1998. I almost had to throw Bonnie Bernstein out and revoke her press credentials because she wanted to cut across to the CBS truck during Kansas's closed practice. Ms. Bernstein has a bit of an attitude, I might add. Although, she also looks good in a pair of jeans, or she did ten years ago.

Welcome to the board and thanks for the great post! :hi:

As you know many of us don't get to see these things and it really helps to have people around here relay info.

Thanks guys. It's good to be on board. I'm not going tonight (unless tickets from heaven arive) but i do have elite 8 tix. UNC basketball fans around here are crazy. They bought up most tickets months ago. It's going to be alot easier dragging into work tomorrow if we advance. Go Vols!

NOLAvol... I'm sure they do still have closed practice, just not at the bobcat's arena.

One other note. At the very beginning of the UT practice, a guy in a UT shirt with a very complex piece of equipment hooked something up to the rim and measured the "flex" of the rim. It looked like some kind of GeoTechnical equipment where he dropped a weight and it took a measurement. He did it on both rims. Anyone know anything about this?

They do that in every new venue just to make sure Tanner Wild doesn't break the rim with his dunks :)

Ah, the old "blister probability" test.

He was actually measuring the density of the metal to get the right cutters. When we win the region, we're not just taking the net.

I would not mind that tonight if that happens, then I could move up some rows!

i have a feeling a lot of NC fans will stick around to see game two if they have that option.

Well I agree, if they win no doubt most will stick around to see who they will play.
