honestly, im at the point that im thinking i, as a college football fan might as well begin following the coach of my choosing instead of a certain team. with the way things are in todays sports it really makes more sense.

i ran into this a few years ago with Nascar. Being raised in a family where my father and two older brothers were all technicians at a ford dealer, we were "a ford family", and so i always picked a ford driver to be a fan of beginning with Alan Kulwicki, when he died, i went on to Davey Allison, when he died i found Ernie Ervin to be my guy, when he failed to overcome his post accident troubles i was lost because i didnt like any of the other ford drivers, Nascar was done for me... until i saw a report that Dale Jr had been caught burning illegal satellite cards in his doublewide trailer and it occurred to me... hes just an ole' redneck! now i never liked (but i did respect) Dale Sr, but i had an epiphany... i need to find a driver i like no matter what the car he drives.

i know some will feel that was a long pointless story... the point is, im ready to pick the coach i like and follow him to whatever program he is at. SOLELY because, when we settle in on a team (like TN), there are too many influences that can effect results *cough* (haslam/boosters).

hence forth, im on the Lane Train 100%! GO OWLS!!!

As compared to the low lifes and google search candidates our AD has reportedly been pursuing and offering the job to? Put me in the "HELL YEAH!!!" column!

wow, Kiffin leaves Tennessee in the middle of the night, can't win with 5 star talent at USC, trolls the Tennessee fan base on a weekly basis, and you guys are so desperate you love him. I am kind of hoping you get what you're asking for, because he is not a winner. He will come here, get us in trouble, lose, and be gone again.

A winner? A splash hire? An excellent offensive mind? A great QB developer? A guy who wants to beat Saban?

Hell yeah.

He's mocking our struggles. It wouldn't be surprising in the least to see him imply he wants the job just so when offered, he could turn it down.

I always just take a "meta" approach to it. I keep an eye on the polls and scores, and just try to watch the games that have the most promise to be entertaining, or the most entertaining teams that particular year.

I did this during the Dooley (UT)/Hope and Hazel (Purdue) years as my teams were not fun to watch. Butch kind of changed that for a while but then when I watched the GT game, I was like it's the same stuff different year, and went back to doing it again.

Purdue had promise, but it's obvious Brohm is not long term by any stretch (which is totally understandable). Tennessee was definitely not fun to watch this year, and unless something totally comes out of left field in a gotcha moment from the AD, I don't see the future being very bright there either.

Kiff is our best hope of turning around the piss poor momentum we have built up in our football program. Its pathetic that the idiots would rather accept mediocrity than talk to him. I don't get it at all. Been a UT fan since I came here to go to school in the early 90's. This is clearly the worst shape we have been in...INCLUDING when Kiff left at the end of the season to go to LA.
