Kiffin said he won't likely use four tailbacks regularly in a game this season.

"I think you've got to get to three probably, at least. Otherwise you're not going to give guys a chance to get in a rhythm."

"We'll have to cut down at some point".

Hardesty seems least likely.

Who is NOT going to see much playing time?

Hardesty, Poole, Oku, or Brown?

I'd say Hardesty is number one. The other three will battle it out for #2. If Brown or Oku are left at 3 and 4, they have enough pass catching ability to where they'll still be used in the offense.

Poole is the first eliminated, IMO.

Oku may not see alot of time at TB, but he will get in the offense as a slot guy or something of that sort.

Oku will probably be out at RB for most of the year I'd bet then. He'll see even more time on special teams and in special packages in the slot and stuff like that though.

Hardesty is first team.
Brown and Poole battle for second spot, at least early in the season.
Oku gets his touches on special teams, and special formations designed to utilize his talents.

I would've thought Poole a couple of weeks ago, but he keeps on breaking these huge runs. Of course Oku and Brown are CLK's recruits and I think he wants as many freshman on the field as possible (without hurting the team) to show this year's recruits that they can play right away. This is going to be interesting.

I actually think Hardesty is the odd man out. And in all likelihood, he will get injured.

springbok thats the most idiotic post Ive read since Groundhog day

MH, number 2, is our feature back this year and I for one do not wish nor expect nor prognosticate the injury bug to bite him this year......

On a more serious note, as much as I've read about our RBs in passing drills, we could definitely put two of them back there as a quadruple threat (run/catch x 2 rb). I think we're more likely to only see one and utilize our tight end/ fullback more.

Hardesty - #1
Poole - #2 (STUD)
Brown - #3
Oku - Will see limited carries but will be the first RB to play when someone is injured

It will be the most absurd thing that Ut fans have ever heard, but . . . . assuming that hardesty stays healthy, could brown be the man out? From what I have heard, oku and poole have been impressive in spring practice, although vol fans across the universe would flip if their 5 star wasn't in the game.

Well seeing that CLK was the offensive coordinator during the Reggie Bush/Lendale White era at USC, I think he wants the same setup here. That means Hardesty/Brown = Thunder and Oku = Lightning. Remember that White was the workhorse and main guy during their sophomore year. Bush proved to be a gamebreaker and he became the focus during their junior season. Just something to think about. The more I think about it, this is very similar to USC. When White and Bush were freshmen, there was an upper classman RB (can't remember his name) that got most of the carries until White and Bush proved to be too much competition.

Are you calling Poole a stud because he broke some long runs against our 3rd team defense, or did he actually accomplish something against the 1st team? If his fumbles Saturday are not a sign of a larger ball security problem, I think that Oku will be much more in the mix than I had thought previously - he will battle Brown early, but I'm not sure his body can keep up at this point. Oku will becomes a bigger special teams player than RB by mid-season, IMO.

Unfortunately for him, Hardesty, you hit the nail on the head. When he's healthy, he's nothing but a beast. But, he gets hurt quite a lot, maybe with this new training regime things will change, we'll see. I know it's early, but I've been hearing a lot about #27 putting the ball on the ground some, I'd imagine that would play a big role in the decision process.
