So I bought ncaa 08 Friday night, played a few games perfectly but later into the night the game froze, so I restarted and it did this again a couple of times but finally started working. Played it for a few hours Saturday and it did once again. So Sunday I thought I would get a few reps in and when I went to start it is when the 3 red light of death started flashing around the power button. At first I thought it was the game so I soft cleaned it and no such luck still staring me in the face were those 3 red lights. So I got online and researched and it turns out those lights meant that the something on a bigger level than all of us had gone wrong. So I called XBOX and they told me that ALL xboxes now come with a 3 year warranty for this problem and I would have to ship my baby off for 3-4 weeks. So has any one else had this happen or am I alone in my sorrow?

Sunday August 19, 2007 will forever be known as the day the gaming stopped

that happened to me about a month ago. XBOX sent me a box to ship the console in (not the hard drive). So I sent it off and I got a new one back in about 2 1/2 half - 3 weeks for free.

This has basically happened to about 50% of 360 owners it seems....

how long as 360 been out. i have a feeling ive had it too long for the warranty to cover me...but i may be wrong. In any circumstance I'll just pray this doesnt happen to me, however i have a lot of games that freeze up :ermm:

It's because older models of the XBox 360 run at insanely high internal temperatures. This can be fixed a couple ways:

1. Get an internal water cooler which will void your warranty
2. Buy a new 360 with upgraded heat sinks which has been a moderately successful fix

I still consider myself lucky.... My 360 was from the 1st batch and it's still running perfectly. I'm also constantly taking it my friends and playing.

 Maybe the change of scenery is doing it good.

I'll say that keeping it upright, rather than lying it down, is probably the better way to keep it running cooler. I'm looking at making an aluminum shelving unit type deal that houses the 360 and several games, as well as a rack for controllers and what-not.

I have never stood mine up. :dunno:

Neither have I. I'm too paranoid that something will go wrong cause it just looks wrong to me.

Plus, when things don't go my way in gaming I tend to become very animated and I end up shaking the room. I just know that if my 360 was standing up it would topple over and break. Then I'd have to punch somebody.

ARRGHH!!:yikes:

Had a major scare this past weekend. A nasty rainstorm hit hard while I was playin' the 360. It suddenly dawned on me that I was out of beer. So a drove out in the rain to get some.

Upon return, I walk in my place to discover the 4 Red Lights of Doom blinking ominously at me. I nearly dropped my beer. I quickly unplugged the power source and said a little pray. I knew this was it- and I was screwed.

Waited about 15 mins before I got the courage to fire it back up. Low and hold- IT WORKED!! :yahoo:

I'm thinking twice before I leave the 360 on during a thunderstorm again.

What's the 4 red lights for? 3 is dangerous, 2 sucks (overheating), I don't know what 1 is either.

I've had mine for a little bit over a month now and I haven't had a problem with it except for one game won't play on it and thats NASCAR 08 so I got to take the game back, I've heard all the horror stories so I try to not leave it on all day and night like I did my PS2...I love it though, the graphics are so much better than PS2 and I think they're better than PS3 as well

I wouldn't worry about that. It happens every time the power goes out while I'm playing the 360. All you need to do is turn it off and then back on and it'll be fine.

Mine is actually at the service center in TX right now. They said they test it for 48 hours straight to see if it will do it again and if any of their test come back bad they will send me a new one. This is the first time in a few years I have not gotten to play the Vols Opener the day before gameday.

Why would you go out of town to play your video game the whole time? Where did he go and what for, that would help explain.

I think he meant he took time off of work that was scheduled ahead of time(thus, vacation-time). While off of work he was hoping to play alot of xbox.

Correct. He was hoping to play a lot of XBOX and smoke a lot of weed. He's my boss, too. :eek:hmy:
