I'm bored, so I figured I would do a quick post just talking about tonight's game versus Vanderbilt.

1) Offensive rebounding

Obviously, Tennessee and Donnie Tyndall are going to let people shoot three's. Nothing we can change about that right now. So when Vanderbilt misses, you have to limit chances. In the first game, Tennessee only gave up ten offensive rebounds and nine second chance points. That's about what Tennessee should hope for.

2) Early start

A key for Tennessee during the LSU game was the fact that Tennessee got confidence early. Even though LSU was competing with them in the first half, Tennessee was still playing well. Tennessee is not built to come from behind. They don't three's well and they don't run. Tennessee doesn't need to jump out to a ten point lead, but Tennessee needs to attack the rim early to establish good offensive rhythm and get some early turnovers to get easy buckets in transition.

3) Get Robert Hubbs III going

If Tennessee wants to make any noise in the SEC Tournament, they need Robert Hubbs III to step up. That means he needs to hit open three's, attack the rim, and be aggressive rebounding the basketball. If I was Donnie Tyndall, I would call a couple early plays to get Hubbs in rhythm and try to see if he can get some confidence early.

I bet CDT is saying to pack it in on D to keep their post from killing us and hope they don't make a high percentage of their 3's - at least that appears what he's been saying all year.

The point you made about Robert Hubbs is probably the most important to me.... I started to realize success this year and next year for sure it will depend probably on him more than anybody else... He has the skill sets to dominate the game both inside and out at his position.... I just hope we see him rise to the top and maximize his talent and if he does I think he could be a superstar...... You just never know what makes these types turn it on and mature....

I think we would be better off allowing Jones to have a good game and concentrate on shutting down the shooters . Then again that may open up driving lanes ugh lol

Well this is the match-up we were wanting. I know it's cliche, but if we play our game, I think we can win.

We all know the deal. Can't settle with shooting 30 3s. We can beat Vandy without relying on those to fall. Need to attack the basket. I just want to see it happen with better passing.

Certainly ORs are important, and I think we'll get it done there. Also with forcing TOs.

Defensively, I know we've relegated ourselves to accepting the fact that DT is going to allow other teams to shoot the 3. But this is the 1 team that I cringe at the thought of doing so. We know they can shoot and we know it's coming - and that's why it's hard to accept. I can't end this season seeing them knocking down open 3 after open 3.

Let's take advantage of the fact they're playing all those freshman in the back-court and force them to make bad decisions with the ball - instead of just knocking down open 3s.

Hope to see a lot of ORANGE in Nashville tonight. At least its not played in that piss poor excuse of a gym Vandy has.

So Vandy is 19-12, if they made a run to the SECT championship game, is there any chance they could make it to the dance?

I think 20 wins could do it actually, but it ain't happening.

If Jones returns and doesn't go pro, Vandy will be a NCAAT team next year for sure. They only lose two seniors. Siakam is one of those seniors, and he averages 23.7 minutes, and 9.1 ppg. The other is Moats, who averages 4.2 mpg, and 1.1 ppg.

Then they have Cameron justice coming in.

What about playing both Moore and Reese almost the entire second half with 4 fouls? What other coach would have done that? He was not going to let the refs take the game away!

You remember why he decommitted from UT? The lord knows we could use some pure shooters.

Not sure why he decommited, but yes, he's a shooter but he's also a scorer, had 54 against one of the best teams in the region 2 years ago as a sophomore.
