3) I can only hope that the twisted, or oft times completely absent, logic of the likes of Glenn "Mentaly Unstable" Beck and Sean "I Just Hate Everyone" Hannity isn't successful with the electorate come 2010 and 2012.

I'm guessing people with eyes can see for themselves what's going on and will vote accordingly.

1) As discussed ad nauseaum above, the reality is that we are not going to know the numbers. The Secret Service is simply not going to release them. If you read what the director said, a fifth grader could tell you that he was hedging and being purposefully vague and non-committal.

2) There are reports from inside the system that threats are up. I believe it because it makes sense given the level of vicious and irrational rancor out there about the current POTUS. You do not because it politically behooves you to turn a blind eye towards it. I cannot prove your suspicion wrong. You won't even acknowledge the legitimacy of mine.

Who is the source of these "reports"?

There was vicious and irrational rancor about the former president as well, you just choose to overlook that and believe that only the irrational dislike is directed at Obama and therefore must mean that threats on his life are up.

So far the only source you could come up with was from a book some guy wrote. What makes me suspicious is that this book had to take some time to write and go through the publishing process so the info about threats had to come from very early in Obama's presidency or perhaps even his campaign.

Others have shown the probability that this "source" the info came from very likely was wrong and an official testifying under oath contradicts him.

Yet you still choose to believe the least likely scenario because it fits your preconceived notions.

you incessantly call out Beck and Hannity, yet you were strangely silent during the Bush administration.

I don't remember you chiming in when Dick Cheney and McCain were portrayed as vampires with blood on their teeth.

You were mute when Sarah Palin was hung in effigy during Halloween in San Francisco.

You want to believe that a "vast, right-wing conspiracy" is secretly fomenting violent revolution against Obama, yet, like Jesse Ventura and the 9-11 Truthers, you have yet to provide anything other than anecdotes and rants by Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz.

btw, here is an interesting, if long, read. http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=621

He was testifying under oath. You truly believe he knows that threats are up substantially yet he said what he did? Why open yourself to perjury charges?

Where is your evidence that reports are up from inside the system? The guy testified that was not the case and he didn't know where those reports came from?

The second part is completely backwards. You've started with the conclusion and then determined the underlying fact MUST BE TRUE since it has to be to support your conclusion!

I give your claim no legitmacy since the underlying facts are SIMPLY NOT THERE. Produce credible evidence that threats are up and we can talk. Otherwise your argument is a tautological farce.

The last comment is comical since you've twisted logic beyond the breaking point with this one. Congrats, you out Becked Beck

Sullivan rejected a figure in a recently published book by Ronald Kessler, "In the President's Secret Service." Kessler says the threat has increased 400 percent since Obama, the nation's first African-American president, took office.

In October, Kessler told CNN he stands by the figure even though a law enforcement source had told CNN it's false.

"There is about 3,000 threats a year under President Bush and now there are about 12,000. Of course, most of them are not credible, but they all have to be checked out," Kessler told CNN's "The Situation Room" in an interview with Wolf Blitzer in October.

He said he got the figure "originally from another agency, but I went over it with the Secret Service."

Sullivan, at a Congressional hearing about how a couple allegedly crashed a state dinner, brought up the 400 percent figure and rejected it, adding that he is "not sure where that number came from."

Such strong evidence

what possible reason would he have to say the threats are at the same level? if he argued the threats were up surely he coudl have gotten more money for his dept.

Mmmmmm... I think their budget is handled mostly behind closed doors.

I would like for LG to respond to my post from last week, in particular the part in bold.
