Thoughts on the Florida game

At least somebody gets it. We do not have the talent to be competitive in the SEC.
In the entire conference??

But UGA does? UGA who gave up
44 to Florida
35 to MSU...

Its not about shutdown defense. That no longer exists in today's game because of the numerous rule changes.

Our defense is talented enough....our starting QB has been the main problem 4 years strong now. 38 tds in 41 games played!

FL doesn't need a good D to win, especially against Vols. We cannot beat them with plodding 8 min ground drives for FG's. FL scores quick and often. It will get ugly fast.

That 's probably true and I hate it. I have horrible history with game, particulary when I'm there in person or pumped up about chances.

Florida and Texas A&M can hit the final nail in the coffin...If they show no mercy on UT and its a shame to say that then if they don't fire Pruitt then the fans need to stay away until the AD starts listening to the people...It's a disgrace we can't compete with these teams...I usually get excited about the UF game every year but this year is like preparing a funeral to happen...I hate this stuff.

God help us if the AD starts listening to the fans. We need people who know about football calling the shots.

I got nothing. Usually you can latch onto something to give hope but special teams, defense, offense, coaching are terrible. Florida is better than us in every single phase of the game. I hate em but I don’t see a way we win. I will say Tennessee has played decent at times. If we have our best game and they have their worst we might make it close.

If we somehow are able to keep the game close the longer it goes the better for us. Pucker factor begins to set in for them. They have a great offense no doubt about it, but if conditions make it a running game more than a passing game and if we get decent QB play we could have a shot. If they have to do stuff they normally don't do we couldmake a game of it anyway.

I won't go as far as saying there is no way in hell we win this game...but.....maybe if Bailey has a ridiculous debut performance we can shock the world...but even if he does our defense is shockingly bad. Under Pruitt... instead of closing the gap w the big boys the chasm between us is wider than it has ever been in our history. Beldar Slingblade has destroyed this program.

Teams with the best players win the game most of the time. In every sport.
No one can develop a donkey into a racehorse.
Talented players, by definition, have fewer deficiencies to cover up.
Nick, Dabo, Kirby have some of the most talented rosters. None of them would help our $hit show.
All coaches are talent reliant.

If Nick Saban was handed this roster we'd be at worst 5-2 right now. Probably the same with Dabo, who doesn't recruit nearly as well as some people seem to think. His classes far more often fall in the 7 to 15 range nationally than top 3. He just happens to be a great coach and he and his staff develop players wonderfully.

It's a rivalry game. FLorida will befired up like it was UGA. We will see they're best shot. It won't be pretty. 45-21 and not as close as the score says. They lit up UGA and Ark defense. We have nothing like that. Not to mention we'll make mistakes on offense and turn the ball over trying to keep up with them. WHen it's 28-7 in the 2cnd quarter we'll have a feel for if they want to light it up or just move the ball.

Yeah right. Florida will stomp a mud hole in Tennessee 49-10. This ain't 1998 or 2001.

So in your mind Pruitt "gets it", yet you fully expect us to get railroaded (which we will)? If Pruitt gets it, shouldn't he have a team that can at least hold its own against Florida? After all, Pruitt and Mullen are both in year three

I'm reasonably confident we can have sucess running the ball, if we can it will probably get ugly.
HB will play but I don't expect him to light it up, best case scenerio would be we keep it simple and that he hands it off a lot and can make some throws to keep them honest.
We are going to have to take a lot of chances on defense we can't just sit back and not put and pressure on the quarterback. Unless we some how can get pressure with four we will be blitzing a lot and playing man on the recievers. The real key is to stop the Florida run game, then the linebacker can sit back a little and cover the quick over the middle and quick outs more.
The wild card is the large number of quarantined players who may not play or if they do it will be without practice for two weeks.
Having said that, WGWTFA.
I seem to recall, a game, against a nationally ranked team, where a freshman started his first game, and came out like wrecking ball. Casey Clausen vs Bama. He started the game by hitting wr on a deep throw, down the sideline, that nearly went for 6. I remember a bammer, roughing him up, after the throw, and he got up off the deck, and went after the bammer defender. Good ol' Casey!! Miss him!

History says that it can certainly happen. I think HB is going to do just fine. He's 6'5 230 lbs and has a playing style very similar to Ben Roethlisberger I feel, he's going to make some wow plays tomorrow vs the lizards.
You are truly the Cliff Clavin of rural America.

Hopefully Bailey will play. If Pruitt has his
way JG will play the whole game.
