atleast 4 of our PWO players can go to a D1 AA and start next weekIn my opinion, and for some reason I think this staff's, they should play the best player on a game to game basis. If the PWO shows up and shows out, by all means let them play. I say this with a simple caveat, take a look at what this coaching staff has brought onto our campus as a PWO compared to past regimes. There are some of the PWOs that are far better than scholarship players in the past. They just made them PWOs to placate the star children amongst our fan base.
Coaches make their reputation on being able to find, evaluate and recruit the best players. It is in each coaches best interest that those they bring in succeed.how is that fair to a young man with talent and maybe more talent than a guy that has been given 3 or 4 stars from a camp, but is not a college ball player?
recruiting EGOIf the preferences walk on is better than a scholarship player,PLAY HIM!What idiot would play the lesser of two players simply because one is on scholarship? This appears to be a question by a Yahoo who worries about one person's vocal inflection when saying something. If you are good enough, you play them.GBO
Neal Boswell = Johnny Majors’ Volnation alias IMO.My take is this: We should go with a base offense of two tight ends (maybe the one on the left is Jam. Johnson/w/a TE number). Two flankers and an RB ...Just like we did against Notre Dame that time when Hubert Simpson wore a track down Shields-Watkins Field, just running the A and B gaps. Let the Big Dogs eat, and let's see who has the fuzzy 'nads. Play everybody we can,...and see if we are capable of playing anything like Tennessee Football. When they crowd the front...hurt them deep. This is the kind of game we need EVERY YEAR.
I know it’s different because it was D2 however; when my son played, a freshman walk on (preferred or not) had to do something pretty special (daily) just to get noticed. The coaches were watching the new scholy guys and players they knew would play from previous year (scholarship or not). If any made a strong case for themselves (over others) they would get practice reps (not just on the scout team).
And that was maybe just one or two a year.......on a team made up of over 50% non scholarship guys.
Consider the following:
A preferred walk on is at least the same size, speed, ability as others in his position group. The PWO has demonstrated himself at practice and during scrimmages (Orange and White games) and not only has proven himself capable but better than half in the group. Coach says in press conferences that many players have done what it takes and deserves to play. In your opinion, should the PWO "be allowed" to be considered for playing time, or never "be allowed" because he has the label of PWO? Would it always be considered to be not in the best interest of the coach to play a PWO over scholarship players? Why would the coach not take credit for "discovering" the player as a diamond in the rough?
great point so with that understanding walk on players should not waste their time. No matter how good you are or could be.

Last season he was a freshman. But never listed on the roster. I think I found one roster that had him listed but not on UTSports. I googled him extensively and could not find any media release of him transferring. Nothing in him after he was announced as a PWO. Kinda weird.I thought he transferred out after last season...or before.
