i really thought we were gonna see a reverse to G. Jones, where he throws a touchdown to Crompton, or Foster

I was certain that they would give Jones a shot to throw the ball, but it didnt happen. that tells you all you need to know about the possibility of a change. I wonder where BJ has gone since alot of folks on here were talking about him like he was the second coming of Peyton.

And have a very good chance at winning out? I find it hard to believe the problems we’re having are Clawson’s fault and I feel if Gerald is as smart as everyone say’s he is he could easily run this offense. I think if Clawson would put him under QB, Thin the play book a bit so he would at least have some plays where he throws to people, I think the Threat of Jones, Foster, Hardesty in the Backfield with Warren, Briscoe and Taylor we could win out.

Dang it… Jones for QB!!!

how many G. Jones posts will there be???? Yes, he would be good, but they have to let him THROW the ball first!! Also, how about a tryout for ERIC BERRY????

FYI... I didn't start a rumor about an orange out, I posted that I heard a rumor about MH calling for an Orange out and then I asked how I can change my Subject line since I misspelled calling and the MOD Changed the Subject completely by putting "Orange Out?"

I can see where you THINK I started a thread SAYING MH called for it, but that is not the case sir.

Why not just put Nick Stevens in at QB, our season is lost if our objective is to win the SEC. So why not train a QB that can actually take us somewhere in the future?

First thing first.
Gerald Jones is a tremendous athlete.

However, he is not our solution at the QB postion until Fulmer and Clawson allow him to actually throw the ball downfield to Taylor, Briscoe, Hardesty, Foster, Stocker, etc.

We all know (Including defensive coordinators from other teams) that when GJ is in at the QB position, the "belly option" run play has been called.

Come on. This is not rocket science. When you know that GJ is not going to throw the ball...simply stack 8 men in the box and have them go at him.

Until Fulmer realizes that the "G-Gun formation" needs more flexibility...in the form of GJ actually throwing the ball...this formation is absolutely useless.

Even if we put our best athlete...Eric Berry...in at the QB position...and run the G-Gun formation...defenses would still shut him down because they know he is not going to pass and they are going to stack 8 men on the line of scrimmage.

If I can understand all of this...being the armchair quarterback that i am...why doesn't Fulmer who is paid 2.5 million per year get this?

i've read too many posts like this to hold it in any longer... just kidding.
but he will throw the ball at some point and it will be great success. almost every team that does this runs the same scissors play for a while until the time is right to throw it. once he starts throwing it, it will open up to more possibilities, but i gurantee you they will still run the same thing we're seeing now, over and over to get teams to keep cheating up on the run.
even with tebow, he did the same thing most of his freshman year, everybody said "oh, tebow cant throw it" then he wins the heisman. not saying GJ will win the heisman, but he will throw it.
maybe a different coach would've started throwing it by now, but thats the point of running it so much. and running has been effective. as soon as a team loads the box and he burns them deep, the defense doesnt have a clue what to defend from then on. it will open up when they do start THROWING it...
thanks for your time...

He said completely one dimensional. You can't really be serious about Jones at QB?

No I was just joking...G Jones at QB would just not work. I think right now the coaches are using him well with the G gun. I just think the play calling out of the G gun needs to be a little more creative.

They are averaging 9 yards per play with Gerald at QB.. He does need to be back there more and they have to letr him show off his throwing ability because he definately has ability in that department.. I also think he could play 50% of the game at QB and be extremely effective.. He is a very very smart kid that understands the game as well as any QB on campus right now.. UT is definately lacking with Crompton at QB, he just looks flat out lost..

thank YOU. i couldnt remember the yard per play average, so i didnt want to bring it up til i found it. now what is it they were saying? "the g-gun doesnt work"
i dont care if he never throws out of it, its not 'worked' (equating into touchdowns)only because we havent ran it enough. but you know he's going to pass out of it, its coming. it'll be beautiful, i cant wait...

Jones would have to prove he can throw and read coverage or else we would be one dimensional. They would pin their ears back and come after him relentlessly.
