Thoughts on Dormady as Future QB

You can twist my words all you want that still doesn't make me any less right.

I thought you were better than that.:)

No you didn't. :wink2: And not twisting anything, you've corkscrewed this from the very beginning. You never admitted you were wrong, even when Sheriron (your original guaranteed starter ) briefly transferred...you just stopped posting for awhile. Here's how you do it. Mea culpa on my part. I predicted before this season that we would employ a mix of the spread and offset I. Refused to buy that was just for the bowl game. I was WRONG! Won't be the last time...next.

Easy. :)

I still believe that Dormady will eventually lose the starting job and transfer somewhere else. I believe that after Dobbs is gone it will be either Guarantano or S. Jones who wins the job. Dormady wants to play and not ride the pine, so he will seek options somewhere else. He may be the starter coming out of fall camp but won't hold it because of lack of production, this is the longest i think he is here. I believe he leaves during the summer. But we will see.

1. If I am wrong i will admit it but I haven't been wrong yet.
2. He hasn't started a game has he?
3. He hasn't gotten any extensive playin time has he?
4. He hasn't been trusted to run the entire offense against any team with a pulse has he?

Dobbs was the starter when you started your Nostradamus act and he is now. If you're hanging your hat on a second year player not beating out a talented 4 year starter? Your whole problem is you can't wait to be right...you threw this out before Dormady even showed up. Babies have been conceived and born and learned to walk and you're no closer to being RIGHT. If JG wins the job next Fall your original prediction of Sheriron still robs you...sorry. :)

Hopefully, he commits less turnovers than Dobbs. I like what Dobbs brings with his legs and leadership, but 8 interceptions is a bit much just 6 games into the season. Along with the fumbles lost

Passes have bounced off of receivers hands, as they do all qbs. But for your agenda put them all on him. Fumbling when getting sacked because the line breaks down is his fault too. If it were another qb you would be blaming everyone else but said qb.

i didn't say he had to beat out by Sheriron, I just said he will be beat out and that Sheriron would prove to be a better QB here. which that is already true, Sheriron got the team going at Battle of Bristol that is more than Dormady has done.:)

You're stretching to the point of ripping. :) M.L Carr was a great bench yeller for Bird's Celtics...was a below average PLAYER. Gary Kubiak was a great presence on the bench behind Elway, setting up a future in coaching...didn't translate to being an even average QUARTERBACK. Joe Montana had the personality of a piece of cardboard...on the sidelines. By your standards Steve Deberg should've been in the HOF... Great CHEERLEADER.

The coaching staff puts Dormady in when there's garbage time because he beat out Sheriron...that's a football assessment made by professionals...not a message board amateur. :)

Keep bringing em! :)

Sheriron got hurt this spring/summer he didn't even have a chance to compete for the backup. He wasn't healthy. Nice try though. Next year is when it all hits the fan for Dormady.

I get that but in a way his recruitment of QBs is a little confusing. Let me explain. Dobbs was a pro style QB coming out of HS. So was Riley Ferguson. Butch also went after highly rated guys like David Cornwell and Hunter Johnson. All pro style QBs. For 2018, Butch was in on the #1 pro style QB Trevor Lawrence. Jones and Guarantano are DTs. So does Butch want a DT? Pro style? Or a mixture? I think he may want a mixture.

After Butch's first 4 years here, I am dying for a QB that can pass and pass accurately.....

IMO, Butch will not remove the dual threat quarterback from the offense. Dormady will have to show he can scramble to get the starting job. I don't think passing is enough to compete for a national championship. You have to have a qb like Dobbs or Knight who can win the game with their running ability. Butch knows that!

Alabama???

So you're not right about anything RIGHT NOW? :)

Dobb's accuracy hasn't cost us a game this year.

Overthrowing a receiver who never should've been targeted and getting picked off to end the game against A&M doesn't count? I'm not saying it was the end all reason for the loss, but it sure as hell didn't help at all.

It is the exact same as Ainge's picks in the SEC championship, yet he gets blamed for it but Dobbs gets a pass? No pun intended.

Ok, I want to get some opinions from some on the board because I don't know as much about "Dormandy" Dormady as some do. All I've seen of him is when he is running mop up duty in blow out games and even then he really isn't running the offense, but handing it off to John Kelly (who is going to be a stud). That said, from what I do know about him, I know that he is accurate throwing the ball. My concern is that with the oline that we have coming back next year, is Dormady the best fit for this particular offense. Even as an accurate passer, if he were behind this oline at the beginning of the year, this would have been Worley 2.0....Worley was pretty accurate and tough as nails. His issue is that he had one foot in the grave all season as teams blitzed at will. We knew all year that Dobbs needed to replace him, and once we got a mobile QB in, we went on a tear, and the offense improved greatly.

My point is that it seems as though this offense requires a mobile QB. Would Guarantano not be the better fit? I know Butch prefers to play the upper classmen when given the chance, and I know the backup QB is the most popular player on the team at all times. I expect Richmond to improve, Chance Hall to be a beast, and the guard play to improve, but unless Dormady has wheels like a Chad Kelly, Trevor Knight, etc, I worry about him in our offense. Everyone seems to be excited about Dormady though, so I'm sure there is something I must be missing. :hi:

I don't care who is the starting QB next year but, it sure would be nice to have one who can accurately get the ball to our WR'S on a regular basis for a change.

He just threw an interception in overtime that cost us the game against A&M.

Had nothing to do with the other turnovers, did it? Yes, it ended the game, but that's not what cost us overall. Here's what I know...and I've said it before, there's a lot of games we don't win if it's not for Dobbs' putting this team on his back and carrying it to a win. His passing stats take a hit when our receivers have dropped balls ad nauseum the past two and half seasons since Dobbs has been running the show. We need to just enjoy Dobbs while we have him the last half of this season. Fantastic kid, VFL and one tough hombre.

I'm not disputing that his receivers don't always help him out, but he straight up misses or gets bailed out by those same receivers more times than you're admitting, too.

Receivers never run bad routes? No one knows what happen on that play except for the players and Dobbs isn't one to call people out in public, to the media. Could have been numberous things that went wrong. But you can call it what you want.:)
