Thoughts on Dormady as Future QB

Hold that thought, OP.

We're gonna need good discussion material during the long...looooooong...off-season. This will be an excellent topic. I predict it will get at least 1 thread every week or so from January 10th until August 1st, interspersed with debates of the Dormady v Guarantano v Jones nature.

For now, gonna enjoy the 2016 season...it doesn't last nearly long enough, not taking my eyes off it for a minute!

Go Vols!

Truth! Most exciting season I've ever seen. Love this team.

Dobbs threw several better passes versus SEC teams before that Domady pass.

Williams had to slow up and stop to catch a pass that would have been broken up by a SEC db. It was ok but I find it laughable that one decent pass vs a 2nd or 3rd string Sunbelt db proves anything. He threw some that were horrible too.

Dormady hasn't proven anything except he can hold a clipboard so far. Dobbs and JG looked better passing in the fall according to practice reports.
Racist imo

He will get killed. No way the O-line is the strength of the team next year, for the last 2 years the O-line was supp to be better and it just isn't. Dobbs make them look better with his mobility and that's the hard truth.

Blue font? The whole line next year will be seniors and juniors.

Perfect thread to place this thought. JG is a strong possibility to win the spot, but my hope is that Sheriron doesn't follow Dormady in the resulting transfer...which is more than a possibility. In no way should that affect the results of the competition, but the underlying worry is that despite the back and forth over Dobbs passing, he has been impressively DURABLE! Name the last Vols QB that has answered the next call to start so consistently. Crompton did it for a season and I think Ainge in 2007, but you probably had to go back to Tee Martin for a signal caller that strung two together. JG went down in each of his last two HS seasons, hence the concern. We lose Dormady AND Jones and we possibly have a 3 deep of JG,CJ Lewis and Zac Jancek...might be a few threads come out of that scenario.

That's why you recruit a stud QB every season. You never know who may transfer.

Some of you are assuming too much. I wouldbt be surprised one bit if Mr. Jones isnt our starter next year!
Kid is athletic and has a gun! Dont know much about accuracy, but from practice he looks to be at the least as accurate as Dobbs.

I liked Worley and thought he was accurate while standing upright. There is no way to know who our QB will be but I can tell you he will be good but inexperienced. We have theee with all kinds of potential. If Dormandy is the man he will do it by having had an extra year in the system and a high football IQ. We will miss Dobbs. At least three of his INTs are on the receivers.

Whether the O Line is good next year or not, I feel like Guarantano will win the job. As long as he can protect the ball! If our O line is bad, then we'll need a dual threat QB, if our O line is good, it makes a dual threat QB that much more dangerous.

QD has better knowledge and command of the offense right now. He has a very high football IQ and is the son of coach. He is also much more athletic than Worley was. With all that being said, JG and Jones both bring another level of athleticism to the position. All three have really strong arms, but JG has a Howitzer attached to his shoulder. Josh Malone said it hurts to catch his passes. Spring practice will be really fun to watch the position battles at multiple positions.

We will be in good hands either way. Both have a good arm and Dormady is more mobile than people think but my personal opinion is that JG is the perfect fit for this offense. He has some wheels.

This! I feel like we need JG's mobility for the offense to be most effective. Dormady does have a cannon of an arm though! Hopefully the competition is opened up in camp and the best man plays. Plus Sheiron Jones...We're in good shape at QB!

That was a crack in your fence. "Great" and "filler" don't fit together. Kinda like upstanding crack addict. :) So you're already wrong about something...tbd. :wink2:

Not sure I ever used "Great", I did say he was too good. but never great. (that I remember) Ands yes you can be too good and still be a filler for a roster spot that desperately needs bodies....So no, it can be the same thing.:)

Too good to be great but not too good to be filler? Keep moving it around. :loco:
