I am going to call big pile of stinking BS on he made the decision late last night after the game....hmmmmmm so everything up to this point was on target??? I know he cannot say "Well since the Alabama game we have talked to him about leaving and he better win out" BUT STILL...nope!!!!!!

He said he’s not using a search firm. So he better have something locked up. Otherwise he’s just like Dave Hart, who didn’t use a search firm, got us a lower level coach and got other coaches good raises.

He did great! Very professional and no search firm. Still wait and see to see who he hires but if it is truly his sole focus then boooooom!

I did laugh hard when that reporter asked him if he was going to pursue any NFL level coaches.

Currie just started smiling at him and said, "I think I've answered that question."

Haha

PJ Fleck uses corny cliches too. I'd just give up if they hired "Row the boat".. After the "Champion of life:.. Yeah that would be a nightmare.

I have no problem with the “row the boat” thing. That’s something that’s very personal to him and he uses it for his program. It’s the “elite days” nonsense that makes my stomach turn when I listen to Fleck.

About what I expected. Nothing we didn't already know for the most part. I'll withhold judgement till I see the hire.

The guy has been told who the coach* will be. Do not get dramatic. He is a figure-head and politician.

I was impressed. Hadn't heard him speak before, and was also getting a little worried about the radio silence on the current situation. Feel better now. Seems like a pretty sharp guy, and a closer.

He's a weird dude. Really weird. He's probably scary smart. And i could care less if he hires the right guy. It's time to win!

Currie came across to me as a politician. Lots of talking without saying a whole lot. But he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Why? He has never hired a football coach before. That alone should give Tennessee fans plenty of concern.

Additionally, the timing of Butch's departure is really strange. If you were going to make a mid-season firing, why didn't this happen 6 weeks ago? Why did we need to wait until we got pulled this far down by Butch to make this happen?

None of this is giving me any confidence.

I just hope the "board" actually allow the AD to do his job unlike in years past where the board did the hiring. Dooley, Jones ....

Why is a search firm bad? Hart didn’t use one and I kinda wish he did.

They generally push candidates that pay them to be pushed, not necessarily the best fit to meet your needs. Once you agree to use them you pretty much shut yourself off from all available candidates.

Contrary to the situation Hart found himself in flying around with hat in hand pleading with someone to take the job, Currie is getting phone calls from people wanting the job this time around IMO.

I think when Grudens name came up, he was acting strange with a smile on his face. Did Gruden say yes yesterday, or last night? 🤔🤔🤔

About what time did he say that? He kept answering questions like a senator, by saying a bunch of things generic to the subject of the question in circles without answering the questions...I had to tune out, I couldn't take anymore

VN has endured nearly 20 years of poor decisions by our previous AD/s and via association, our Chancellor/s. Not knowing our new AD and Chancellor, they have SOOOOO much room to improve on their predecessors and I can only pray that they will provide VN with divine guidance w regards to our HC search.

Talk is cheap anyway. Show us action and bring us a GREAT coach or will go through this yet again with a new AD.
