Thoughts from Z13...

A little off the subject, but a couple of encouraging signs. The receivers are catching the ball and the throws are accurate. It seem like the last couple of years Tennessee would at least have several drops a game. I think Tennessee can move the ball in the air if our QBs get time to throw.

Tennessee's tailbacks are physical. If given the chance they will run over you.

Also, I think our DBs are going to keep getting better. They look like they have been coached.

JG does not hold on to the ball too long. Looks that way because the line has turnstiles for arms
Add in "Butch Jones is an intern", and you've got two truths and a lie.

Pruitt mentioned in presser that we can't take that sack on first down, putting us in 2nd and 17. JG's exceeding expectations on his passing, at least for me, and know he's a competitor and wants to complete every pass...but he's got to know when to sail one to the sidelines.

I can see some of the silver lining, but my concern is what does Pruitt think about the offensive line and defensive line status and if there is much chance for improvement. It seems that we have recruited talent there but the previous staff were not very good at developing. Does Pruitt think these two groups can develop into good run effective units on both sides? If so, there may be hope for this season. If not, Merry Christmas!!!

Our student section lacks total class sometimes. I know that they are young and want to have a good time but some things are just ridiculous. I hate them booing other teams coming onto the field. It shows a total lack of respect to other schools and those players who care for their school and team just like we do. We criticize the antics at Florida and Georgia but what is said about us is justified too. And the FU chants are totally classless and embarrassing.

If we are the front porch to the University then someone needs to get the broom out and do a little sweeping from time to time.
Booing other teams isn't something only UT students and fans do, that's universal. Don't like to see anybody throwing things on the field or at players. We like to think we have a higher standard or that we're above doing that but there will always be bad sports out there.

Yawn.

No one really cares about the antics of the student sections. They’re 20 and trying to have fun at a TN football game which has been harder to do the last 10 years....

No one cares? So there will not be a global email Monday morning to students about fan behavior? Interesting.

There is a difference between fun and having a lack of class. We just need to let the paying public know if we want to turn college football into the WWE so we can make choices with our entertainment dollars. Some of us have better things to do.

I think everyone agrees he should have thrown it away on the one sack (where his primary target fell down and led his DB to the only other viable WR route)...but what about the 20 other pass plays where the QBs had no time?

Wow, so we need to cheer for the other team now? Get out of here, it's called home field advantage for a reason. We should intimidate other teams, not appreciate

Who said anything about cheering for other teams? Overstate much?

It wasn't that long ago, last year, that JG didn't receive enough protection to have time to find someone to throw the ball to. While this is a game that we should have won, playing an SEC school in a couple of weeks will highlight this problem, if indeed it is a problem.

You mean like he did to void a sack early in the game?

I didn’t say it, Coach Pruitt did.

I think most all agree JG has made a lot of progress and is promising this year. OL still very porous, but MY opinion is that he still holds on to the ball too long, and stares down his primary target too much...doesn’t mean I’m right...just my opinion. But, those things can be coached. The ability is there I think, as long as he gets time to throw.

1- The Jon Ward tribute brought tears.

2- Randy Sanders tribute was cool.

3- This OL can be good, right now they arent.

4- So glad ETSU scored that field goal. Made me happy.

5- JG holds onto the ball waaay too long.

6- RB from Memphis is the future of that offense. Running with a lead blocker needs to be our identity.

7- Man the fans up in this section were awesome. Lots of season ticket holders. Quite a depaeture from the last time we went to a game, saw more drunk people than ever.

8- Unbelievable people throwing crap on the field

Where in the world are you getting that JG is holding the ball too long? Last year yes, this year absolutely not. Actually, it’s the thing that Pruitt consistently praises JG for, being efficient and getting the ball quickly out of his hand. Not sure what you’re seeing, but him getting the ball out quickly is a huge reason why he’s currently completing 71% of his passes behind this awful OL.

Couldn’t possibly disagree with you more. Dude is competing 71% of his passes behind a HighSchool OL.....he couldn’t possibly do that unless he’s gettikg the ball out of his hand quickly and knows where to deliver the ball on time. Also, watch The Jeremy Pruitt Show...he’s praised JG both weeks for getting the ball out quickly.

I agree. If he holds it too long, he's not really doing it anymore than anybody else. It's just that you notice it every time. The kind of heat he's getting up the middle is a nightmare.

IMO - I think he's a little late on some of his long throws and stares down his primary receiver on occasion. But he's still learning on the job with a subpar OL (not a HS line and much better than ETSU line). I hope he continues to grow and become a better than avg QB, not sure he will he will ever be All-SEC.

Agree with all your points!
Was a good day!! Crap being thrown on the field was stupid!

And anyone who believes JGs problems holding the ball is the Olines fault hasn’t watched a game in person...
Receivers are open!! Ball just comes out to late.... only ball really thrown on time yesterday was Chryst throw on the TD.. it was out of his hand before the receiver broke open...
But I’m sure JG will continue to improve, and I have no doubt he’s the best option... Pruitt sees it everyday at practice and he’s going to play every who gives us the best chance to win!
Loved the video tributes yesterday!

The student section needs to have their discount and seating revoked next time they pull that crap. We just didn't do that kind of stuff they do now. Like a bunch of yard apes.
