You didn't watch the same plays we did then. I clearly saw Neal half a-- down the field on the interception. It was plain as day. He was jogging and Rogers did the same thing. I for one thought simms played a solid game. Too many drops. I will say that he missed he tight end on the first pick he threw. Rivera was wide open down the middle. However, I agree with Teague.. He is horrible and we need to bench him now. Or, let's try him out at reciever and see if he can give us a little more depth. Can anybody tell me what the hell is going on with M.Milton. That kid is a beast of reciever and looks like a NFL reciever in person. I just cannot understand.
Simms is consistently abonimable at quarterback. He couldn't hit anyone even on simple throws to the flat. He tries to rifle every throw, even short ones or touch throws. And yes those two throws were COMPLETELY his fault. Rodgers was bumped to the outside--in the 20 minutes that simms likes to hang on to the football he should have noticed that rodgers was running an outside technique and consequently NOT thrown the ball behind and inside. Even had Rodgers made an effect to break up the pass he would have had offensive pass interference because the DB was behind and inside. If that football is further up the field and outside that's either a) a touchdown or b) an incomplete pass and second down. That turnover is not acceptable.
Furthermore there should have been a 3rd interception that was flat dropped, he hit the DB in the numbers and Rivera was open. On the Da'rick interception poole was open as a dump off and no one was within 10 yards of poole, he would have run than for at least 30 yards assuming the grass monster didn't get him, which it didn't seem to today.
The interception with Neal was a complete joke of a throw. Debatably the worst throw of the entire day. He threw into double coverage and underthrew Neal. If you don't believe me watch the replay, Neal is 2-3 yards ahead of where the football is intercepted. Floating it up behind your receivers into double coverage against ANY secondary, much less it best or second best secondary in the country is bad.
Matt Simms is a senior, there is no excuse for his play. Stop defending him.
