I typed this in response to another post on Treyvon Paulk's thread. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to see what the rest of volnation thinks.

This RB class reminds me a lot of the 1997 of Lewis/Henry/Stephens. Everyone was so enamered with Lewis (rightfully so btw), they couldn't see how good Henry & Stephens were.

*****much needed disclaimer*****
I'm in no way insinuating that this crop of backs will be as productive as in 97-2001. However, that would be awesome. Also, im aware Stephens/Henry may not have been in Jamal's 97 class. I am simply pointing out a similar disparity of fanfare within the RB group. Go Jamal! Go Henry! Go Stephens! Go Hurd! Go Paulk! And most importantly, go Vols!!!!!

No offense op, but I really can't see the Hurd-less RB's amounting to much. Sorry, I think this is a 1 cart horse and that horse is a BEAST!

paulk will be a good back when gets right. he was going to blow up had he not been injured. He was espn 300 and rivals said they would bump him if he had a nice yr. He will be solid. Scott will be electric if we can get him. The kid is special out in space. lane will be steady as well.

I was not considering Scott. That would be a different story. Bottom line is that Hurd is the best recruit we have had in many years. He is awesome.

Paulk looked like a great RB before his injury. The Lane/Hurd combo will give Paulk time to redshirt and return 100% to pre-injury form.

I also see an additional 4 star RB being added to this class before NSD.

This will be the best class of backs since that '97 trio imo. I hope Hurd will have a Gurley like impact on the SEC next season. Will be fun to watch.

Maybe you should take a gander at Paulk's HUDL film, then.

He good. Real good.

I hope Hurd is as good as everyone believes he will be. He has lost weight since the injury. Being an EE will help him tremendously but having a Jamal like impact is asking a ton especially with a brand new line. But in butch I trust so who knows what can happen:rock:

I hope I am wrong. He wasn't heavily recruited and now is coming off a torn ACL. A torn ACL in high school typically doesn't equate to good long term health.

Excited about Marlin Lane this year. I think he will get the bulk of the carries.

He's got some good offers. Wisconsin, specifically.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure he would have been more highly recruited if he played his senior year. He was playing behind another SEC commit his junior year, and he still put up great numbers.

As you can tell, I'm a big fan of Paulk.

I do agree on the injury, though. Never know what to expect with those.

Just a rumor, but hearing his recovery is going very well. The question is if he will be ready to play by fall. Hurd is well enough to begin working out with the team. Of course, we have Lane for one more season. Only other possible option right now is Pickett. If Scott or someone else is added late, it could mean a lot.

Pickett would have seen some time last year as the coaches did everything to get him eligible. Hurd will be fine. By all accounts his surgery and recovery went very well. Paulk will not be pushed. We will lose Lane to graduation so we will need 3 TBs ready for 2015. Hurd, Pickett and Paulk will be good to go.

Scott looks to be the type of player that you gotta take. He could take Pickett's minutes from the get-go. You want to have 3, even 4 TBs ready, and Scott appears to be a player.
