Saw these items on display at a restaurant in Jonesboro, Arkansas of all places. Interesting list of coaches in that pic. Enjoy.

I think Lacewell is from over there somewhere.

Can make out Fulmer, Majors (HC) Lacewell, Sanders, Chavis and Cutcliffe. Should be somewhere around the mid 1980s

Larry Lacewell is from Arkansas, so I'm guessing he's got some connection to that restaurant. Maybe a family thing.

Lacewell was DC 19990-91.

Lacewell was from Jonesboro, coached at AState a good while. Won a natty there I believe in D-2 or 1AA.

Also, Jack Sells is on the back row. Is this the same jack wagon that was caught faxing the playbook to a competitor?

Good stuff.

I hope our current coaching staff people want to take pics of them and hang up in restaurants.

Thanks Fade. If I’m not mistaken, that’s Dick Bumpas “Bump” on left beside Lacewell in top picture. Bumpas was UT’s LB coach and was a wild man.

Yep. He was faxing it to Ron Zook, who is also a former Majors assistant. Zook was on Spurrier's staff at Florida at the time.

Sells also worked as a medical sales recruiter in the early 2000s (may be still doing it) and recruited me for a position. I didn’t put it together that it was the same guy. In retrospect, he was obnoxious. Told me that evidence of his incredible work ethic is that he missed trick or treating with his kids one year to take care of business. At the time I thought to myself.....that’s not evidence of your work ethic, that’s evidence that you’re a lousy father.

That tends to happen when your assistants are in demand.

True, but not all of those who left were loured away by other head coaches. Majors demanded performance and some could not stand having their feet held to the fire. Some also had some rocky times on the recruiting trail.

What restaurant in Jonesboro? I lived there a few years in the early 2000's working for KAIT 8 and a videojournalist.

No that was Ron Zook

No, it was Sells (back row, far left) who faxed the material to Zook at Florida. We subsequently lost to the Gators, 35-18. It was a huge scandal. Sells was hounded by Vol fans for years afterwards. There were even stories of him being beaten-up, although I've always been skeptical of that part.

Ironically, Sells later successfully sued Kinko's for violating his privacy.

That's Rex Norris sitting beside Lacewell.

If anyone is interested, this is the 1990 staff. Front row: Charlie Coe, Phil Fulmer, Head Coach Johhny Majors, Larry Lacewell, Rex Norris. Back row: Jack Sells, Tommy West, Randy Sanders, Tim Keane, David Cutcliffe, John Chavis.
