Those who want Phil Fulmer removed...read this!

I know 80% of you want a change, but please consider this (and I say please so we can all think, not that any of you have any real power)....

Rich Rodriguez was dominant the past few seasons at WVU, coming within a Pitt loss from appearing in last season's NC game. He takes over a respectable (yes respectable...how many straight winning seasons?) Michigan program, and now look at Michigan. They are like Notre Dame of the past few seasons. Really, Michigan is losing to TOLEDO??!!

Tennessee has players, has athletes, including the signing recently of the nation's #1 Running Back.

The common ingredient in all of SEC Title game appearances has been a quality, SEASONED QB (Casey, Erik)...Is it really Phil's fault J Crompton got in the games and shriveled under the pressure. Or that Stephens can't move the offense?

Let's be real. We don't have Peerless Price, Carl Pickens, or Robert Meachem. We don't have Travis Henry, Stephens, or John Henderson. We have a mediocre team. Changing coaching staffs means we lose our current recruits (#1 RB!) and destabilize our program for several years.

People, do we really want to be as bad as ND last year? As bad as Michigan this year? Can you imagine LOSING TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS? Losing to teams like Wyoming (who I know is dreadful)????

Give Phil another year. The QB's will be seasoned, a bad year behind them, and hopefully we can compete next season for the SEC east. I DO NOT want to see us being 2-9 next season and losing to everyone except non-division 1 teams. Tennessee is losing this year, but my goodness. We are losing to FLORIDA, ALABAMA, GEORGIA AND AUBURN. All 4 teams have been or are current top 10 teams. Crap happens. It's a bad season.

WE LOST TO LAST SEASON'S NATIONAL CHAMPS BY A MEASLEY TOUCHDOWN...SHOULD HAVE WON THE DAD GUM GAME!

Phil and co. surely didn't forget how to coach.

Everyone calm down....Embrace the face we cannot CANNOT be national champs every year. We will be ok, but we need stability.

Bringing in a Lane Kiffin or Muschamp ensures NOTHING...what ties to the SE does Kiffin have? Come on people. Get out of your drunken haze and relax until next season. If the same thing happens again, then dismiss Fulmer.

I agree with him. Keep Fulmer GO VOLS

I'd just like to see an offense without the same 6 or 7 plays that we've run for the last 10 years.....

For the love of God will the Fulmer supporters please stop. The majority want him out, we are tired of getting out coached and beat to our rivals and Phil has had plenty of chances to fix things and can't. Stop feeling bad for him because he was compensated handsomely for his contributions to the program. All we request is that he announce now so we can begin our search and allow him to leave with dignity.

when did we play lsu this year? am i mistaken or was that a completely retarded statement?

I think we already have a team that Chris Petersen needs to compete in the SEC....Boise ST. runs a offense that is VERY much pass..almost spread.....with great WRs BUT they also have a very good RB that can blast through the D and get a touchdown or break through on long yardage......

now.......does not Tennessee have a QB with "potential" to be a long yard passer? (Stephens has proved he can do it) we have great WRs when they get the ball..... and we have (next year) 3 great RB's that can be moved in and out in different plays.,.....
I say keep Clawson, and Chavis...... bring in Petersen as HC.New school Offense..old school Defense......this is a match made in heaven.

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO ONE THING...
D I S C I P L I N E

It made me sick to my stomach to see how many times we "shot ourselves in the foot" during the Bama game, MAYBE we might not have won, but we gave up at least 17 points in that game which could have given us a chance.
There are too many other examples to mention both on and off the field. The LACK OF DISCIPLINE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR MANY MANY YEARS

agreed

Who the hell cares about a national title at this point? All we want is one freaking SEC title in 10 years.

What has CPF's stability accomplished in the past 10 seasons?

We DO NOT have the #1 RB, he is the #1 all-purpose back not overall #1. And he hasn't signed he verballed.

UT only beat NIU by four, that's about like losing to them.

You said we have a mediocre team, who's fault is that?

How many coaches take a team with a lot less talent than UT and beat the crap out of opponents? Coach Cut, Bobby Johnson, Chris Peterson, Gus Malzahn...Rick Neuheisel beat us with 2nd and 3rd stringers! My Mother could coach UT with our talent and get better results.

The true test of a coach is "doing more with less".

In todays paper there was a bit with Chavis support of Fulmer and "winning 150 games" was mentioned. Ok but..

Out of thise 150 games won
...what percentage had a winning record
...what percentage were in the top 10
...what percentage were in the top 20
...how many were bowl wins since 2000
...how many wins against Alabama, Georgia and Fla. in the last five years.

I could go on & on but the point is it's always brought up "Fulmers winning percentage" as some safety net to keep him. The last four to five years tell more about the direction of the program than all the previous years combined.

- 10 years since the last SEC Championship.

- 9 years since the last BCS Bowl.

- 3-5 bowl record since 1998 (.380).

- 6 consecutive seasons with 3 or more losses, and 8
out of last 9.

- Lost to an unranked team 6 years in a row
(2003-2008)

- Overall record, 2005-2007: 18-13 (.581).

- Record in SEC games, 2005-2008: 10-11 (.480).

- Record in SEC East games 2005 - 2008: 6-7 (.460).

- Record -vs- ranked teams, 2005-2008: 4-10 (.286)

- Record -vs- Spurrier, Meyer, Richt, Tuberville,
and Saban: 9-22 (.290).

- Record -vs- Meyer, Richt, and Saban: 4-11 (.270).

- Record -vs- Top 10 opponents, 1999 to present:
8-16 (.333).

- Record -vs- Top 10 opponents at home, 2000 to present: 1-8 (.111).

There's more, but I think you get the point.

I'm sure the Fulmer supporters can find room inside the raw numbers for their argument that (a) Fulmer deserves another year, and/or (b) Fulmer is still the right man for UT.

Fire away. All I have to counter with is raw numbers.

Fulmer's numbers.

Can't blame 2008, or 2005 on Cutcliffe.

go vols.

In a word.... NO.
Burn it down, and rebuild it.

What did our coach do in his second year at Bama? With a team that was 7-6 the year before.
Getting a new coach with fresh ideas and a desire to bring a great football program back to the top...is a powerful tool.
You guys need a new approach.

Arkansas beat LSU last season. How'd that turn out for Houston Nutt?

I have seen more the past 2 days on here for support of Fulmer then the past 2 weeks. People want to bring up the past success and compare Fulmer to some of the best to coach in college. When Fulmer first arrived he was hungry and got into players face and challenged them to compete not to mention he was blessed to have recruits like Reggie Cobb,Peyton Manning,Travis Henry,Jamal Lewis,Robert Meachum who saw the decline and left early. Outside of Meachum who was the last offensive player TN sent to the NFL. TN has sent numerous defensive lineman to the NFL of late such as Albert Hayneworth,Shaun Ellis who are doing great look at Mayo, who they claim could be rookie of the year on defense. but we send no RB's,WR's, QB's (since Manning) out talent level has dropped and so as our success. Fulmer has slipped in his recruiting and it is now showing on the field not to mention the fact Fulmer claim to fame is offensive linemen and ours is a joke. C'mon Phil it's time, the fat lady is tired of warming up, she is ready to shatter glass and we are tired of seeing our program continue to decline.

We have had QB's make it TO the NFL besides Peyton,

Tee Martin, Erik Ainge, for example. Now playing time is a totally different thing, but they did make it to the big time. I am not defending CPF by no means, I am just stating what you didnt. CPF is toast!

You use Rich Rod as an example, let me direct your attention to Nick Saban and what he has done with a struggling Crimson Tide... Seriously dude, seriously? If we retain Fulmer than we just have to address this same issue a couple years down the road
