Those who want Phil Fulmer removed...read this!

How about this: Phil announces 2009 is his last season and he will retire and remain in an "administrative capacity"??? This would be honorable, and hey, maybe Phil would get super fired up and surprise everyone. Penn St has been mediocre in recent years, and look at them and their archaic coach now...

:lolabove:

You need to copy & paste that post in your windows notepad, that way next year all you'll have to do is copy & paste it into your new "save Phil one more time threads."

Oh yeah, when you do that be sure to change the 2009 is his last season, to 2010 is his last season.

I know 80% of you want a change, but please consider this (and I say please so we can all think, not that any of you have any real power)....

Rich Rodriguez was dominant the past few seasons at WVU, coming within a Pitt loss from appearing in last season's NC game. He takes over a respectable (yes respectable...how many straight winning seasons?) Michigan program, and now look at Michigan. They are like Notre Dame of the past few seasons. Really, Michigan is losing to TOLEDO??!!

Tennessee has players, has athletes, including the signing recently of the nation's #1 Running Back.

The common ingredient in all of SEC Title game appearances has been a quality, SEASONED QB (Casey, Erik)...Is it really Phil's fault J Crompton got in the games and shriveled under the pressure. Or that Stephens can't move the offense?

Let's be real. We don't have Peerless Price, Carl Pickens, or Robert Meachem. We don't have Travis Henry, Stephens, or John Henderson. We have a mediocre team. Changing coaching staffs means we lose our current recruits (#1 RB!) and destabilize our program for several years.

People, do we really want to be as bad as ND last year? As bad as Michigan this year? Can you imagine LOSING TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS? Losing to teams like Wyoming (who I know is dreadful)????

Give Phil another year. The QB's will be seasoned, a bad year behind them, and hopefully we can compete next season for the SEC east. I DO NOT want to see us being 2-9 next season and losing to everyone except non-division 1 teams. Tennessee is losing this year, but my goodness. We are losing to FLORIDA, ALABAMA, GEORGIA AND AUBURN. All 4 teams have been or are current top 10 teams. Crap happens. It's a bad season.

WE LOST TO LAST SEASON'S NATIONAL CHAMPS BY A MEASLEY TOUCHDOWN...SHOULD HAVE WON THE DAD GUM GAME!

Phil and co. surely didn't forget how to coach.

Everyone calm down....Embrace the face we cannot CANNOT be national champs every year. We will be ok, but we need stability.

Bringing in a Lane Kiffin or Muschamp ensures NOTHING...what ties to the SE does Kiffin have? Come on people. Get out of your drunken haze and relax until next season. If the same thing happens again, then dismiss Fulmer.

Wow. First of all, I'd give any new coach 4 years. 1 year is no way to judge a coach. Look at Arkansas if you want to go that route. Petrino is a good coach; he'll get it turned around.

Second of all, what are we gonna do with the nation's #1 RB? Watch him suffer behind mediocre offensive coaching? That would hurt worse than just saying, "You know what? Screw it. Let's toss the coaches and try again. We'll lose this valued recruit, but there are always really good recruits every stinking year. If we stumble upon an amazing coach, we may not need the top recruit. We can make a decent player great because this new coach is so awesome." I would just like the opportunity to try that.

3rd of all, considering the recruiting situation, if Fulmer were to chop Clawson and try a different OC, then I wouldn't totally be ok with that, but I could live with it for one more year. Then, if the next OC doesn't work, then it's bye-bye to the whole squad.

Our sophomores are playing amazing, and we need to give them an opportunity to really lead this team. The current offensive coaching staff is not really using these players abilities, and they're not coaching the best performances out of these players.

I give Nick Stephens a pass because he has been stuck with 2nd teamers for most of his Vol life. You see his most feared target is a second team WR. You get him working with the ones in the offseason and I really see this kid shining next year.

I'm by no means getting my hopes up.

So, let's review. All coaches can go, I don't care. If Fulmer stays, Clawson needs to go for sure. If we lose to the big 3 again next year, then I say all plus Hamilton hit the road. This is really all in Hamilton's hands.

Our success each season is measured by the Geogia, Florida and Alabama games. Last four years...3-9

So explain this, we do really well when david cutcliffe is around, we suck when he's not......You know you're probably right, let "The Great Pumpkin" drag us out of the quagmire he got us into in the first place!!!!

When do you suggest that things change? Maybe we wait till things are soooo bad that we can't even snag a 3star recruit. You're logic is ridiculous.:shakehead:

I sure am glad that every few days we get a new buffoon that comes on the board to lecture all of us to embrace our incompetent coaching staff and be content with replacing Vanderbilt as the laughing stock of the conference.

fulmer is the same coach that he has always been. he is just going up against better competition than he was in the 90s(meyer, saban, miles, richt, etc).

Phil had the best talent in the nation year in and year out in the 90's. Phil is the same horrible game coach, he won a great many of his games during this time because of his teams superior talent! It certainly was not his coaching! When have you ever seen Phil outcoach anybody?!?! He is a chickens%@t that could not call an aggressive game if his life depended on it. He coaches scared! He has no guts, and I want to throw something through the tv when I watch his playcalling. If Spurrier had coached our teams we had while Peyton was on campus we would have won at least one national championship, if not two. We were so loaded on both sides of the ball it was ridiculous and criminal to have not won a NC with those squads. We won in '98 I know...just one of those magical things that happens(Ark Miracle). It was not his coaching intelect! Now that we have much lesser talent than we did in the nineties it has allowed Phil's coaching deficiencies to be exposed. He doesn't have superior talent to bail him out and mask the fact that he CANNOT coach!

Phil has never been a good coach. He can recruit be not very good coach. It's time for him to go. We are on the verge of having our 2nd losing season in 4 years.

Thanks Phil, but see ya.

We don't have players like the ones you mentioned because the head caoch has lost his edge in recruiting, not to mention the guys that do come in never develop into better than they were when they came in players.

BINGO !!! WE HAVE A WINNER FOLKS!!!!

Now Fire Fulmer....and the staff...

We, the fans do have power. We have the power to choose to not spend our money on tickets, apparel, ppv, ect. Perhaps once Neyland is empty of orange, (save for a few thousand like yourself that cling to what CPF has done, not what he is doing now, which is nothing) maybe then people like you will see that ultimately it is the fans who choose. Empty seats speak volumes, as did Neyland bathed in crimson Satrurday night. As far as the rest of your post. No. He should have been gone games ago. :salute:

Rich Rodriguez is also trying to install a new offense with players who were not recruited to play in it. Fulmer has been passed up by coaching throughout the SEC and the country. No matter how you look at it nothing will change next year with him at the helm, we need new blood in here.

You are a perfect example of a Tennessee fan (term used loosely) that makes me ashamed sometimes to be one. People like you who thinks everything will always come up candy canes, sunshine and roses are the very reason that there is no serious pressure on Hamilton to make a move. You are more loyal to Fulmer than you are the team itself. You obviously care nothing about winning and must be a glutton for punishment.

Let me put it to you this way. If I was performing my job at work on the same level Coach Fulmer is performing his; I would be fired, no question about it. They would not think about how I almost completed my job to satisfaction and stick it out waiting for me to turn it around. Why should it be any different for CPF?

fatjoe, you have no idea what you are talking about. look at his record against good teams over the past 4-5 yrs if not longer. this season has nothing to do w/ it. it's time for him to go, i'll send a uhaul van to your house as well so you and phil can ride off into the sunset together

We don't have players like the ones you mentioned because the head caoch has lost his edge in recruiting, not to mention the guys that do come in never develop into better than they were when they came in players.

Right, he lost his edge, it has nothing to do with fans calling for the coach's head after every season and a 18 year old kid's fear that the coach recruiting him won't be there when he shows up. A guy who currently has the #7 recruiting class in the nation is not someone who has lost his edge in recruiting. If anything, this is his best recruiting job of his career (that we have #7 recruiting class despite this awful season).

He is a waaaaaaaaaay much better recruiter than he is a game coach. Therein lies the problem.
